ABOUT THE POSITION

The Litigation Paralegal at Jimerson Birr operates at the intersection of business strategy and courtroom advocacy. This is not a conventional paralegal role. Our clients are small to mid-sized  businesses, operating companies, financial institutions, real estate developers, healthcare entities, and executives, who face high-stakes disputes that threaten their operations, assets, and reputations.
The matters you will support span commercial litigation, business torts, breach of contract, trade secret and non-compete enforcement, fiduciary disputes, real estate litigation, employment disputes, and creditor’s rights, among others. The complexity is real, the timelines are demanding, and the outcomes matter deeply to the people and organizations we serve.
You are a motivated, resourceful professional who thrives where independence meets clear expectations. You’re energized by variety, stimulated by deadlines, and fully capable of shifting between strategic case-level thinking and disciplined process execution without losing momentum. You bring ingenuity to your work, finding new paths through complex terrain and delivering solutions that reflect both analytical clarity and creative problem-solving. You are a calm, composed presence amid competing demands, someone who can navigate multiple stressors without losing focus or quality.
In this role, you manage all assigned attorney support functions from intake through verdict or resolution. You own the integrity of your casework, the reliability of your deadlines, and the readiness of your attorneys, serving as the operational backbone of your assigned litigation team.

What You’ll Do
•      Vet new clients, perform intakes, open matters, conduct initial conflict checks, and execute seamless handoffs to attorneys with full case context prepared
•      Support complex commercial and business litigation matters including breach of contract, business torts, trade secret disputes, non-compete enforcement, real estate litigation, fiduciary claims, and creditor’s rights proceedings
•      Develop case strategy by conducting thorough legal research, drafting legal memoranda and correspondence, and obtaining key information from relevant parties, witnesses, and third-party sources
•      Draft, review, and manage a high volume of litigation documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, proposed orders, and settlement agreements
•      Manage discovery from end to end—coordinating document collection, organization, and production; supporting E-Discovery workflows; and maintaining defensible chain-of-custody documentation
•      Navigate state and federal civil court systems, manage electronic filings, and ensure full compliance with court rules, local administrative orders, and applicable deadlines
•      Coordinate and manage all court deadlines, scheduling orders, deposition calendars, and attorney appointments across multiple simultaneous matters
•      Prepare attorneys for hearings, depositions, trials, mediations, and arbitrations—assembling exhibits, witness files, binders, and all supporting materials with precision and thoroughness
•      Serve as a reliable point of contact for clients and opposing counsel, communicating professionally and managing expectations with poise
•      Support non-billable team functions including workflow management, purchase orders, shared calendars, and shared inboxes
•      Take on special projects as assigned, approaching each with the same ownership mindset you bring to your daily casework

Success in this position goes beyond task completion. High performers in this role reach a state where creativity flows effortlessly, challenges are embraced as opportunities, and solutions are delivered with impact. You will be encouraged to take processes in new directions, and your ingenuity, enhanced by experience and education, will be recognized as a genuine asset to the team.
Victory here is defined by continuous growth, professionally and personally, where each milestone sets the stage for even greater achievements. Significant career ascension and meaningful monetary rewards await those who flourish in this role.

What You Bring
Experience & Knowledge
•      Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a paralegal, with direct exposure to complex commercial or business litigation

•      Familiarity with business litigation matters such as breach of contract, trade secrets, business torts, real estate disputes, or creditor’s rights is strongly preferred; Family Law experience also considered
•      Proficiency across the full litigation technology stack: Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Litify,  NetDocuments, EverLaw, LexisNexis, eFax, CSC Prepare, and state and federal filing systems

How You Work
•      You are a highly organized, self-directed professional who manages time and competing priorities with efficiency and composure
