AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the ongoing administration of Austal USA’s compensation programs, policies, and practices to attract, retain, and reward top talent. Conducts data analysis to ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and cost-effectiveness. Assists in maintaining consistent application of compensation practices and ensures compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Assist with the administration of compensation program, including base pay and merit reviews.
- Prepare compensation recommendations for new hires, promotions, and internal movements, ensuring alignment with internal equity and market data.
- Assign positions to existing salary grade structures by interpreting published market data (i.e. recommends appropriate job titles, job codes, FLSA status, pay grade, incentive target, etc. for new jobs).
- Make sound recommendations by interpreting current pay practices to resolve compensation/grade classification concerns.
- Support the execution of merit review activities including annual and semi-annual compensation review cycles.
- Conduct job evaluation activities to support pricing and administration of exempt and non-exempt pay decisions. Edits or assists in creating new job descriptions or updating existing job descriptions.
- Participate in and conduct salary surveys to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of compensation data, tables, and overall set-up in HRIS system(s). Work with HRIS and IT staff to maximize system capabilities to administer all compensation programs effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including but not limited to, Fair Labor Standards Act, Department of Labor, ERISA, DCAA, and IRS. Stays well-informed as to new and changing legislation.
- Assists HR Managers and Managers with compensation related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources preferred
- CCP certification preferred
- 1 – 3 years of experience in Human Resources, with a minimum of 1 year in the analysis, and/or administration of compensation programs
- General compensation knowledge required including compliance with the state and federal laws.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills. Ability to analyze issues and suggest solutions; ability to collect, organize, and analyze data for various projects
- Strong data management skills required, including the ability to maintain compensation data in HRIS (preferably Workday), run reports, and support basic troubleshooting of system issues
- Excellent service orientation and ability to build strong relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate processes and procedures with managers and employees
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates discretion when working with sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams / organizations with attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude to utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with HRIS data management and possess systems aptitude
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

DIRECTION EXERCISED: Works within established guidelines. Works autonomously and escalates issues to Sr. Compensation Analyst as appropriate.
DISCRETION EXERCISED: A degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
LIAISES WITH: Employees, Department Managers, HR / Benefit Staff, Finance Staff, and external consultants as assigned.
