As a key member of the Total Rewards team, you will provide excellent service to all levels for your assigned client group with respect to compensation policy, practices and administration. The Compensation Analyst is accountable for managing the research, analysis, development, implementation and administration of compensation programs, to meet organization objectives and needs.
With a solid knowledge of compensation best practices, you will work closely with the HR Business Partners and Leaders to provide consultative advice and analytical support on compensation related issues.
Specifically, You Will:
- Develops a deep understanding of the business and creates market competitive compensation programs to help the business accomplish its objectives. Acts as a consultant to the business to improve understanding of our practices and policies. Ensures internal equity and compensation philosophies are maintained.
- Manages all tasks related to the annual and semi-annual salary review process for assigned client group from process beginning to completion including data validation, calculation and communication.
- Play a key role in the calculation and communication of bonus programs. Assists in the development of bonus plan documentation and quarterly updates. Analyses the effectiveness of programs and recommends changes when necessary.
- Participate in job evaluation committee meetings.
- Participate in senior management discussions regarding initiatives/changes in organization structures and provide corresponding job evaluation support.
- Prepares a variety of special reports and analysis to monitor the integrity and competitiveness of our compensation programs.
- Preparation of salary surveys, ad hoc compensation surveys and compilation of survey Market data.
- Analyses and compiles compensation data to assist director in formulating compensation policies.
- Counsels HR Business partners on individual salary treatment and escalate unique situations to the Compensation Manager.
- As a seasoned contributor, you will also provide guidance and mentoring to junior positions.
- Assist in the roll out/communication of changes to compensation policy & administration.
- Assists in special projects related to the implementation of new HR systems and provides input into process improvement.
- You will use your strong technical knowledge of HRIS (preferably Peoplesoft) as well as Access and Excel to improve processes and efficiencies within the department.
- Contributes to annual budgeting process.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested

Some of what you need:
- University Degree or equivalent, Completion or near completion of post graduate studies in Human Resources/Compensation. A completion or near completion of CPP designation would be an asset.
- Advanced Excel and Access skills with knowledge of merging and macros.
- Prior experience with large data sets.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and financial modeling skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy. Capability to analyze and resolve complex situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and consulting skills. Customer focused and ability to establish effective working relationships with HR Business partners and leaders.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft query a definite asset.
- Demonstrates initiative and proactive mindset with ability to manage multiple priorities and time constraints, and achieve results in a complex, fast paced environment.
- Financial acumen and ability to synthesize data and present recommendations.
- 5 years of experience in compensation in a retail environment.
- Experience designing incentives, market analysis, job evaluation and playing a consultative role.
- Experience providing consultative advice to senior leaders.
- Experience with sales incentive program design.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the compensation cycle, including salary administration, surveys, market analysis.
