Overview:The Local Purveyor is responsible for creating legions of loyal Boar’s Head Brand fans by promoting Boar’s Head Brand products, protecting the Brand, and flawless execution of the Vision Process within the local market. The Local Purveyor is responsible for the management of a company-owned route including sales/business development, service and operational excellence, financial controls, and personnel management. Job Description:Essential Functions
Brand Coach
- Facilitate classroom training for retail partners ensuring a consistently exceptional deli experience for fans
- Ensure deli associates receive required training within 90 days of hire
Brand Advisor
- Develop and cultivate relationships with deli management to ensure ongoing support of Boar’s Head Brand service requirements, new product launches, and product placement
- Become a strategic partner with deli management by supporting in-store/chain initiatives, understanding market/geographic changes, and recommending innovative solutions
- Identify new channels for growth within independent retailer and foodservice markets and close new customers
Brand Artist
- Responsible for in-store merchandising execution including case set, pre-slice, and family foods
- Responsible for updating monthly marketing materials and ensuring all signs, banners, POS materials, and decals are current, stocked, and in good condition
Business Acumen
- Work with internal Finance team to accurately forecast sales and create corresponding budget and business plan to achieve goals; provide explanation of variance to Director of Business Development & Finance
- Complete business/settlement transactions with minimal error
- Able to read and interpret financial information and leverage internal partners to develop and deploy strategies to positively impact route’s financial strength
- Utilize reporting tools to evaluate and monitor business performance
- End of Day settlement procedures, sales, credit, cash, collections, etc.
Personnel Management
- Recruit, manage, and develop Brand Associates and Brand Specialists
- Establish and communicate performance expectations to meet route objectives
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to route personnel to support ongoing professional development and career growth at Boar’s Head Brand
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 4 hours
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; push or pull objects up to 600 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in a refrigerated/freezer environment
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
- Experience working for a Local Purveyor or minimum 3+ years of experience in the food and beverage industry working with perishable products preferred
- High school math competency, basic reasoning and computer skills
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Panel approval and successful completion of Local Purveyor training
Training Requirements
- ServSafe certification
- DOT compliance and Safe Driver training
- Product knowledge including species, flavor profile, product handling, slicing technique
- Use of internal product and training tools (e.g. TRC, DOCK)
- Warehouse operations (e.g. use of pallet jack, proper lifting techniques, product rotation, scale operation)
- Deli Operations
- Slicer use, maintenance, and cleaning
- Deli scale operation and sanitation
- Proper slicing technique, product wrapping and handling
