Job Summary
Accountable for the management, growth, retention and customer experience of a defined commercial and small business renewal portfolio inclusive of all assigned maturing loans. Operates in a centralized Community Banking Relationship Center as the connection between customers with upcoming loan maturity events, bankers and bank. Effectively manages the maturing loan process for all defined loans to include direct customer contact to explore needs, collect required documentation, negotiate solutions, submit loan renewals and execute closings. Executes portfolio management functions for the maturing loans worked to include the acquisition of documentation, submission and clearing of all loan exceptions as part of the renewal process. Actively reviews assigned client relationships via the renewal process for relationship review for retention and expansion opportunities. Utilizes needs-based selling techniques to exceed client needs and grow the overall portfolio. Collaborates across the organization to engage appropriate business partners to satisfy client needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages assigned maturing loans via a queuing system to review current terms, formulate customer proposals, execute direct customer contact to explore renewal options, collect required financial information, review renewal options, submit business loan applications into Genesis and execute appropriate steps to ensure applications are moved through established loan processes from approval to closing. Function inclusive of submission, process management, loan documentation review, scheduling of closing, execution of closing, disbursement of funds, loan upload and quality check post-closing.
- Coordinates with the Small Business Lending Center to ensure requests are executed according to established standards to include providing additional information and executing defined banker steps in the business lending process. Reviews associated loan decisions generated by scoring team and reviews, as necessary, for override recommendations and/or counter offers. Negotiates and communicates loan decisions to customers.
- Conducts a full relationship review associated with all managed opportunities by executing a needs-based selling approach to satisfy overall client needs and connect with associated business partners. Maintains proficiency and understanding of business banking products and loan processes, interviews business clients, identifies appropriate products, takes applications and executes loan requests. Understands established credit parameters and understands the loan process applicable to business banking.
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of the various lines of business within the company, such as Credit Cards, Merchant Services and Treasury Management. Works to build line-of-business partnerships to enhance relationships and support teamwork and customer growth. Identifies cross selling opportunities through expert customer profiling using a needs-based selling approach. Demonstrates value to the client and refers to the appropriate Synovus partners.
- Operates as a loan resource for Retail Bankers to assist with questions associated with, but not limited to, loan structure, policy questions, financial requirements and product information.
- Partners with Community Banking, Synovus Securities, Mortgage and Private Wealth Management to ensure ongoing and appropriate client communication to support maximization and satisfaction of client relationship.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
- One year of experience with business lending execution and customer contact management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to provide specialized Commercial and Small Business client support consisting of complex customer needs for maturing loans to include basic knowledge of credit/loan standard operating policies and procedures, regulatory policies, terminology, methodology and concepts
- Ability to establish rapport with clients and building relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer services skills
- Proficiency suing Microsoft Office products and Salesforce
Additional Information
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- External business development experience or business development experience in a call center/phone environment
- Knowledge of Synovus' lines of business and department specific databases and systems
