Who we are

At Picnic, we’re reinventing the way employees experience lunch at work. By partnering with top local restaurants and batching hundreds of orders, we make it easy for companies to offer high-quality, individually packed meals, without fees or tips. Our mission is to create a seamless, affordable, and joyful lunch experience that benefits both employees and employers.

We're looking for an energetic, people-loving Community Manager to help grow Picnic’s presence in Chicago. You’ll be at the center of everything - building relationships with restaurants, engaging with our eaters and companies, and running local marketing efforts to drive awareness and adoption.

This is a great role for someone early in their career (recent grads welcome!) who’s driven, creative, outgoing, and ready to hustle.

What you’ll do

  • Customer Engagement: Be the point of contact for companies and employees using Picnic. Ensure a smooth experience and help drive repeat usage.
  • Drive expansions: ensure current customers love Picnic and enable expansions - whether getting more orders from current eaters, adding additional dining slots or offices, or even referrals
  • Local Marketing: Plan and execute grassroots marketing—flyering, pop-ups, sampling, events, and whatever else you dream up to make Picnic known in your city, for the right POCs.
  • Content & Social: Help shape the local brand voice and content to supplement local marketing efforts
  • On-the-Ground Insights: Be our eyes and ears in the market—share ideas, trends, and feedback with the broader team.

What we’re looking for

  • You love Chicago!
  • You’re excited about startups, food, and bringing people together.
  • You’re a natural connector—warm, confident, and great at building relationships.
  • Recent grad from a top university
  • You’ve organized events before (college clubs, campus events, non-profits, etc.).
  • Highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects at once.
  • Comfortable with data (Google Sheets, dashboards) and making decisions from it.

Goals

  • Grow the number of Picnic orders in your city
  • Grow the number of active eaters in your city.
  • Increase brand awareness and office penetration.
  • Strengthen restaurant partnerships and ensure high satisfaction.

Why join us

  • Drive real impact: Be part of building the operational engine behind a fast-growing startup that’s redefining how work gets done.
  • Own your city: Take full ownership of your city’s performance and see the direct results of your ideas and execution every single day.
  • Work with purpose: Join a mission-driven team focused on making the workplace experience better for thousands of people.
  • Grow with us: At Picnic, there’s room to grow—personally and professionally—as we scale and take on new challenges together.

What else you need to know

This role is based in our Chicago office location. As a company driven by innovation and continuous change, close collaboration is essential. We’re constantly reimagining our industry, creating new products, and refining our processes, and we do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.

The base starting compensation is $30 hourly.

Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Benefits Summary:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (multiple plans, incl. HSA options)
