Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Starting up community

  • Develop a plan for the community that identifies HPE goals, community needs, and details on how the community will operate.
  • Identify potential independent influencers, channel partners, and ISVs who are emersed in virtualization and hybrid cloud, identifying them to help meet the goals of the community.
  • Working with HPE Reference and Global Sales / PTB, develop potential prospects to prioritize in the community plan. Pull from existing VMware vExpert community and others.
  • Lead evaluation of platforms/applications that can be used to host the community (Discord, Slack, Lithium, etc). Leverage existing HPE platforms if possible.
  • Recruit internal stakeholders and SMEs from the Hybrid Cloud BU, Pre Sales Ambassadors, Support, etc. who will actively participate in the community.
  • Develop a structured onboarding process with expectations, guidelines and importantly the benefit to influencers for joining.
  • The needs of customers and partners in the community will be different than influencers – include understanding of those needs in the community start-up.

Community building

  • Understand through interviews/evaluations/etc. influencer, partner, and customer needs to keep them engaged and interested.
  • Build, maintain, and nurture strong relationships with community, understanding their specific needs and focus (content generators, independent analysts, tech experts, etc.) ensuring alignment with our goals.
  • Host regular virtual events that can include demos, Q&A sessions with key HPE employees (execs, engineers, SMEs, etc) to foster community.
  • Gather product feedback from community, especially customers, that leads to deeper understanding of customer needs and can be used as feedback into product development.
  • Build a plan that includes physical events (e.g Discover, HPE CIC, VMware Explore, etc) where face-to-face interaction with HPE team can take place (if budget allows). 
  • Evaluate opportunity for local/regional ‘User Group’ meetups similar to VMware VMUG.
  • Build a plan for rewarding top-tier participants to encourage activity and desired HPE outcomes (ex: Badging, Certifications, SWAG, etc. for engagement)

User Generated Content (UGC)

  • Develop a plan working with execs and product team that defines the kind of content we want developed by the influencers in the community.
  • Source influencers for HPE content and integrate more HPE execs & SMEs in Influencer-generated content
  • Collaborate with community members to develop content that aligns with our goals and current social media trends.
  • Leverage community to source Case Studies, speak on HPE’s behalf at Events, participation in Customer Advisory Boards, etc.
  • Track content performance and identify improvements and adjustments to ensure both the influencer needs are met as well as ours.

Other related

  • Work closely with our product team and SMEs to stay informed about product benefits and claims, ensuring accurate and community communications. Lead the community with your expertise.
  • Able to develop content (blogs, videos, podcasts, social posts, etc.) that leads the community to share it with their audiences.
  • Experience using social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, YouTube, etc.) to engage with community in “external” public conversations.

Education and Experience Required:

  • BA or BS in Engineering, Marketing or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Product BU experience working across product management, marketing, and sales in internal and customer facing capacity
  • Active user of social media with a recognizable profile to accelerate execution.
  • 7+ years experience in social media management, community engagement, and influencer relations.
  • Advanced experience with creating content such as videos, blogs, podcasts, and social posts is a must to reduce cost of external agencies.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong technology skills, ideally with virtualization and hybrid cloud. Demonstrate ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • VMware vExpert participation and knowledge of VMware ecosystem a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of the digital space and influencer marketing, including but not limited to search and acquisition, content development, and platform management.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas (right-brain) but also data driven (left-brain).
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable talking with executives, engineers, and customers.
  • Strong collaborator and mentor who can bring out the best in others.

USD Annual Salary: $115,500.00 - $266,000.00
