As a Community Habilitation Specialist, you'll work one-on-one with children, teens, or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities—right in their homes or out in their local community. You'll be a mentor, a motivator, and a guide as they work toward personal goals and build life skills.
What You'll Do:
- Be a patient and compassionate positive role model
- Mentor individuals to achieve their goals and grow their independence
- Spark fun and skill-building activities in the home or community
- Provide supportive guidance using positive behavior strategies
- Encourage community involvement and social connections
- Assist with personal care tasks as needed, with training provided
What You'll Need:
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and your own vehicle (required for community-based activities)
- Stable work history
- A heart for helping others
- Comfort assisting with personal care if/when needed
- Comfort using technology including smartphones and web-based apps to complete daily job responsibilities
