The Role

The Community Fundraising Manager serves a critical role in the execution and growth of JAX’s philanthropic strategy, and reports to Associate Director, Annual Giving. The Community Fundraising program is responsible for increasing awareness and visibility of JAX’s mission and leads engagement through direct and peer-to-peer fundraising. 

The Community Fundraising Manager will develop and implement the peer-to-peer fundraising program – helping develop awareness of the program, developing opportunities to generate revenue, and providing one-to-one fundraiser support. Candidates should be familiar with the nonprofit industry and peer-to-peer fundraising, energized to inspire small donors, and extremely engaged in building grassroots support.

The hired candidate will work remotely but will ideally live in the Northeast. Will be required to travel onsite when needed.

The salary range is $65,018 - $108,857. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Program Development & Execution:
  • a.    Collaborate with the Associate Director of Annual Giving to create and execute strategies that increase community awareness and participation in peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
  • b.    Partner with the Advancement team to align grassroots fundraising initiatives with JAX’s philanthropic goals.
  • Platform Expertise & Optimization:
  • a.    Serve as the Classy platform expert, managing campaign and giving pages, optimizing functionality, and ensuring accurate data integration with JAX’s systems.
  • b.    Monitor platform performance and recommend enhancements to improve user experience and donor engagement.
  • Community Engagement & Support:
  • a.    Recruit, onboard, and maintain relationships with community fundraisers, acting as their primary point of contact.
  • b.    Develop and distribute toolkits, training resources, and ongoing support to empower fundraisers and maximize their success.
  • Cross-team collaboration and Marketing Liaison:
  • a.    Act as a strategic partner to the Marketing and Communications team, ensuring grassroots and peer-to-peer campaigns align with JAX’s brand messaging and visual identity.
  • b.    Work closely with your manager to coordinate marketing needs, brainstorm outreach ideas, and refine messaging for community-focused initiatives.
  • Program Growth & Reporting:
  • a.    Develop multi-channel strategies to expand peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, leveraging analytics to identify growth opportunities.
  • b.    Establish clear success metrics (KPIs), track campaign performance, and create regular reports for leadership to highlight progress and opportunities for improvement.
  • Fundraising Stewardship:
  • a.    Partnering with the stewardship team, create stewardship strategies to thank and retain grassroots donors, including personalized communication and recognition efforts.
  • b.    Manage relationships with social media-based campaigns and provide responsive support for inquiries or technical challenges.
  • Marketing & Promotion:
  • a.    Collaborate with the Marketing team to design promotional materials, social media content, and other assets that drive visibility and participation in community fundraising campaigns.
  • b.    Proactively promote peer-to-peer programs through digital and in-person engagement opportunities.
  • Annual Giving Support:
  • a.    Create campaigns in collaboration with the Associate Director, Annual Giving and work within the annual giving strategy on collaborating on strategic priorities, troubleshooting challenges and co-developing creative ways to engage and acquire new and existing donors

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business, non-profit or public administration or related experience preferred.
  • 3-5 year's experience in peer-to-peer, fundraising, development, community activism or event planning 
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategy, develop and implement effective programming, mobilize communities
  • Efficiency in reporting and communicating analytical insights 
  • Enthusiasm for building and developing a new program 
  • Understanding of today’s nonprofit landscape, fundraising platforms, and social media 
  • Ability to thrive in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge and Classy, or other CRM and peer-to-peer fundraising tools, strongly preferred
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva. 
  • The Manager\Assistant Director must be able to provide support for fundraising activities, JAX events and other key moments taking place outside of business hours, including at night and occasionally on weekends (with advance notice). 
  • Familiarity with grant management systems and databases for tracking proposals, grants, and reporting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of ethical principles and best practices in fundraising, including donor stewardship, gift acceptance policies, and donor confidentiality.
  • Must be able to travel onsite ~once per quarter and attend occasional onsite events.
