Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a passionate senior community engagement and communications professional in the role of Community Engagement Manager to join our team and help deliver large, complex infrastructure projects across the DFW Metroplex and around the nation. The professional selected for this key role will work collaboratively with AECOM's client and specialist teams and be accountable for leading engagement and communications tasks while managing scope, schedule, budget and quality.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Setting the strategic direction, creating and implementing Stakeholder/Community Engagement and Communications Plans, then leading the management and execution of activities for client projects and programs.
- Utilizing industry best practices and methodologies to develop detailed solutions to complex project, program, or client challenges.
- Overseeing production, quality control and approvals of all client engagement and communications material deliverables.
- Leading public and stakeholder engagement activities and tactics, including in—person and virtual workshops, advisory committees, community meetings and public open houses.
- Providing guidance into issues and reputational risk management for clients.
- Identifying and mapping key stakeholders for client projects along with associated outreach strategies.
- Evaluating results of community engagement and public involvement activities in line with client and project objectives.
- Leading client communications and developing relationships with key contacts.
- Managing multiple project teams along with direct reports.
- Drives the growth of community engagement and communications services and assists with identification of new business opportunities.
- Contributing to the growth of community engagement and communications client services and assisting with large proposals.
- Identifying new business opportunities and understanding market trends as well as client drivers.
- Serving as a Community Engagement subject matter expert internally within the organization.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 + years of relevant experience in a stakeholder management and/or communications management position, including experience on large infrastructure programs.
- 15 + years of professional experience in a communications, community engagement or stakeholder management position.
- 5 + years of professional experience working on large infrastructure projects or programs.
- Able to demonstrate sound knowledge, understanding, and experience of managing complex stakeholder relationships and establishing effective communications strategies in an operational and public-facing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing small teams (2-5 people) to implement effective communications, community engagement and stakeholder management plans.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings / workshops with groups of stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; this role requires continuous interaction with program and team leaders, client management and the public.
- Experience with government relations, media relations, public relations, stakeholder analysis and facilitation.
