The Community Engagement & Events Specialist plays a key role in helping us strengthen our community connections through volunteerism, financial education, community partnerships, and memorable events. This highly collaborative role is responsible for coordinating community outreach efforts, supporting a high-volume of annual events and volunteer opportunities, and serving as a central liaison between the bank, local organizations, employees, and community partners.
 
Location: Can work in either Howard or Hamilton County
 
Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and support community, sponsorship, and volunteer events across all markets we serve.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for community outreach initiatives, including planning an annual all-employee service day.
  • Manage volunteer participation, communication, and recognition programs, including volunteer incentive initiatives.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with community organizations, nonprofits, and local partners.
  • Proactively identify community events, causes, and partnership opportunities that align with the bank's      strategic goals and community impact efforts.
  • Lead planning, coordinate logistics, and provide on-site support for customer appreciation events, branch      celebrations, shareholder meetings, Shred Days, financial literacy events, and other community gatherings.
  • Partner with internal teams and community organizations to deliver engaging, well-executed events that strengthen customer and community relationships.
  • Support sponsorship activation efforts to ensure Community First Bank maintains a visible and meaningful      presence at key events and initiatives.
  • Manage Chamber of Commerce memberships and community organization relationships.
  • Oversee the donation request process, including coordination, tracking, budget adherence, and communication with applicants.
  • Identify new opportunities to enhance Community First Bank's community presence, customer engagement, and overall impact.
  • Evaluate community engagement opportunities and make recommendations that align with the bank's values      and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to support social media, content creation, event promotion, and      storytelling related to community engagement activities.
  • Help capture and share the impact of Community First Bank's community involvement through photos, success stories, and event highlights.
     
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends to support events. 
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable representing the organization in public settings and community events.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the bank's service area and future growth markets.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with event registration, project management, or volunteer management tools. 
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 40 pounds occasionally. 
 
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Event Management, Hospitality, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Community Development, or a related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience coordinating events, community engagement initiatives, volunteer programs, customer experiences, nonprofit partnerships, or related activities.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external partners. 
  • Experience coordinating community events, volunteer programs, or customer-facing events.
  • Experience recruiting, coordinating, or leading volunteers.
  • Experience supporting social media, communications, or event promotion efforts.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, nonprofit, hospitality, tourism, or community relations.
