Position Summary
The Community Employment Specialist connects people with disabilities with community-based, competitive employment. Working in the community, this person assesses skills, builds job seeker competencies, establishes relationships with businesses, and gives individuals the tools and support needed to be successful.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist job seekers with disabilities secure competitive integrated employment through job finding or job development.
- Facilitate work assessments or job trials to evaluate a job seeker's interests and abilities.
- Provide job shadowing opportunities for job seekers to explore employment options.
- Help people discover job opportunities.
- Provide job coaching and support.
- Promote sustainable competitive-integrated employment by building and maintaining strong relationships with employers.
- Promote the inclusion of Achieva's employment supports and services to employers.
- High school diploma and one year of related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities working in the community and the ability to train people with disabilities on a one-to-one basis using a variety of techniques.
- Ability to communicate an understanding of the needs of the business community and an understanding of job performance assessment.
- Position requires flexibility in work schedule.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
- Properly insured vehicle available for daily use (use is reimbursed by Achieva).
- Act 33, Act 34, and FBI clearances are required.
- Candidates who have experience working with people with disabilities, employment support, recruitment, or advocacy would be a great fit.
