Community Canvassers and Team Leaders

Access to reproductive healthcare is under attack like never before. We need canvassers to join us as we go door to door, talk with constituents about what’s at stake, and how they can take action to defend and protect Planned Parenthood in their communities.
This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.
Get paid well! Canvassing positions start at $22/hour. Team Lead positions start at $24/hour. We offer overtime pay, shift bonuses, paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend referrals. If you are a fluent Spanish speaker, you may earn an additional $2 per hour.

Locations: Davenport, IA; Tucson, AZ
We are hiring immediately, all positions run through July 31st with possibilities for advancement afterwards. Shifts run from 12:30–8:30 p.m. weekdays and weekends with the possibility to work part-time or full-time.
Canvasser Responsibilities ($22/hr):
- Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
- Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
- Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
- Follow the campaign's safety protocols
Team Leader Responsibilities ($24/hr):
- The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:
- Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day, and debriefing with them at the end of the day
- Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be successful
- Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work
The ideal candidate:
- Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
- Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
- Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
- Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
- Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
- Prior canvassing experience is preferred, but not required.

Skills Required
- Eligible to work in the US and able to present original, unexpired I-9 documents
- Strong communication skills and comfort speaking with diverse people
- Ability to engage respectfully with the public and follow campaign safety protocols
- Willingness and availability to work scheduled shifts (typically 12:30-8:30 p.m., weekdays and weekends)
- Cultural competence and ability to work respectfully with teammates and community members
- Hard worker who stays motivated to engage many people and open to new challenges
- Prior canvassing experience
- Fluency in Spanish (eligible for additional pay)
