Northern Bank’s Community Banking business model is built on partnership, and it’s the role of the Community BDO to embody Northern’s ideal of partnership within the community. In this context, business development is not about simply selling bank products and services, but, instead, working within the business community to understand a business’ challenges and to help identify solutions.

While the role will partner with local branches, a successful BDO thrives on their own ability to identify opportunities and make the appropriate connections. This individual must be willing to invest time and talent to engage with the community and to make an impact in the small business community. The BDO must have and/or establish strong relationships with advisors, community organizations, centers of influence and other connections that can aid in the assistance needed to help small businesses thrive and prosper.
