Overview:

The Communications Specialist will play a key role in shaping and executing Apalachee Center’s communications efforts. This individual will be responsible for creating engaging social media content, producing a monthly email newsletter, maintaining and updating website and collateral content, and partaking in community engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing skills and a creative mindset.

ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

1.         Develop, curate and manage engaging content across all social media platforms. Monitor, analyze and report on social media performance and trends to optimize outreach and engagement.

2.         Write, design and distribute a monthly internal email newsletter to keep stakeholders informed about news, events and updates related to Apalachee Center.

3.         Regularly update and maintain website content to ensure accuracy and relevance. Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all online information is current and aligns with organizational goals.

4.         Create and update marketing materials, brochures, flyers and other collateral as needed to support Apalachee Center's programs and initiatives.

5.         Develop and implement community engagement strategies to build and sustain relationships with local organizations, media outlets and stakeholders. Represent Apalachee Center at community events and outreach activities.

6.         Produce high-quality written and visual content that effectively communicates the organization’s mission, services and impact.

7.         Assist in developing and executing communication strategies that align with the organization’s goals and enhance its public presence.

8.         Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure cohesive messaging and to support various communication needs across the organization.

9.    Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, english, marketing or a related field. Minimum of two years of professional experience in communications, public relations or a related role.
  • Experience in the mental health or healthcare sector preferred. Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and photography preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain Apalachee Designated Auto Driver status.

Skills Required
