Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for creating complex strategic communication plans, collaborating with key partners and functions, leveraging and championing various communication platforms, and managing and execution of the plan for on time delivery. This role serves as a communications advisor to a variety of senior and executive leaders including but not limited to the CEO, CFO, CHRO, CSO, CRO. Serves as subject matter expert and team lead providing guidance and support to less experienced team members.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds communication plans to optimally engage team members in BAU, strategic, and crisis situations. Must be an agile, fast learner to quickly become a subject matter expert to deliver crisp, clear, and timely communication.
  • Studies industry trends to provide best practices, innovative ideas, and thought leadership on all content to include but not limited to, written, virtual, digital, creative, design, communications channel, and format.
  • Serves as a team member advocate at all times, striving to always send the right message to the right team members on the right channel. Keeping in mind timing, capacity, and daily expectations for each role and line of business. This position is a strategic partner for communications in the change management process, collaborating with senior management on issues and priorities concerning project plans and implementations.
  • Develops, launches, and manages internal programs, podcasts, events/forums, meetings and conferences. Builds run of shows, provides scripting, technical support, designing, directing and producing events throughout the organization, for our leaders, many lines of business, employee resource groups, and product launches.
  • Manages corporate intranet and communication channels (One Synovus) content by utilizing innovative ways to connect and collaborate with leaders and team members. Overseeing, guiding, and building content for line of business communications such as weekly newsletters and supporting and guiding channel contributor and team member content submissions.
  • Makes data driven decisions on content by reviewing engagement, clicks, and duration while being agile in changing and adapting communication styles and recommendations based on content performance.
  • Serves as a project manager when building and executing a plan, pulling in key stake holders when appropriate to execute communications plans flawlessly and timely. This includes but is not limited to leading project meetings, entering tasks in Microsoft Teams, following up with key partners, and scheduling meetings.
  • Serves as team lead and subject-matter-expert resource. Provides training to less experienced team members and assists management with work distribution and prioritization as requested
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field

Minimum Experience:

  • Six (6)+ years of experience writing, editing, and proofreading content for news/journalism/marketing channels

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated internal and external print, online, and broadcast experience
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic working environment with always on communication needs and requests.
  • Ability to work an on-call schedule the majority of the time for emergency/crisis situations such as but not limited to severe weather, IT/platform outages, and other industry or societal impacts. Nights, weekend, and holiday work is expected.
  • Must be a strategic and subject matter expert, who is a fast learner, agile, and comprehends complex projects, products, and corporate changes to clearly communicate to various audiences
  • Must be comfortable in high stress situations with little to no margin for error. Under extreme pressure and high volume, remains agile and able to multi-task, always staying calm, consistently delivering high quality work on time with excellence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret highly technical information and translate it into easily accessible information
  • Ability to handle proprietary and confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to build and maintain reputation as a reliable, confidential, and professional contributor to corporate efforts
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft office products

Additional Information

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or similar graduate degree in a related field is preferred
  • Web content management experience
  • Experience in a consulting or account service position
