Leidos currently has an opening on the ‘Service Management, Integration and Transport’ (SMIT) Contract for a Communications Network Engineer Expert- Transport Operations Boundary position located at Honolulu, HI. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and leadership skills to successfully execute the mission of the Navy’s largest IT services program: SMIT. Under the SMIT Contract, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, network engineering, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. This position requires Engineering, Operations Support, Management and extensive knowledge of network communications, architecture, security controls, and compliance and configuration discipline.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide Network Boundary professional services and thought leadership for the largest Intranet in the world. A qualified candidate for this position would be responsible for network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Network Services for the as-fielded NMCI network.

Design, implement, and manage load balancing solutions to optimize network performance and ensure high availability for government applications.

Configuration and maintenance of firewall systems to protect sensitive government data and ensure security compliance and resource availability
-
Monitor network traffic and analyze performance metrics to identify and address current and potential issues
-
Develop and enforce security policies and procedure related to network boundary traffic management
-
Collaboration with other enterprise network teams and departments to streamline firewall and load balancing solutions within the existing network infrastructure
-
Provide network boundary expertise and technical guidance for junior network engineers and supporting staff
-
Continuous Service Improvements (CSI)
-
Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP)
-
Expert knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common network security elements
-
Plans and executes network upgrades and maintenance activities with the NMCI Operations Manager, NOC Lead, Release Management team and other key enterprise stakeholders.

Tier III escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management activities.

Active participation in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.
Basic qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree preferred in STEM or relevant field, or comparable experience with at least 10 years of relevant experience. Additional years of related experience may substitute for a degree at Hiring Manager's discretion.

U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance and ability to attain a Top-Secret clearance.
-
Must currently possess a DoD 8570.01 IAT Level III Certification i.e. CCNP Security, CISSP, or CASP+.
-
Must currently possess an Associate level Network Vendor Certification (from one of the following Vendors): Cisco, Juniper, F5 Networks or Aruba Networks.

Willingness to be called during off-hours on a rotational basis to meet customer mission requirements

Information Assurance Professional for boundary operations providing tier-III support to the enterprise.

At least 8 years’ experience engineering and troubleshooting networks, including extensive routing and switching experience such as MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols i.e. BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, switching protocols i.e. Spanning Tree Protocol, VLANs, LLDP, VoIP, Multicast protocols and emerging network technologies

Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of IP network/subnet addressing

Experienced and adept at developing and maintaining technical documents, analyses, and reports

Familiarity with the ITIL framework

Ability to travel up to 25% including OCONUS potential travel
Preferred qualifications:

Previous work experience providing support to the NGEN-NMCI program is highly desired.

Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution

Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience

ITIL v3/v4 certification/training

Agile certifications or applicable experience

Pay Range:Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
