About Us

Let’s go on an adventure together!

Hey there, we’re G Adventures. We’re one of the world’s leading small group travel companies, and we’ve always believed that travel isn’t just about where you go — it’s about how it changes you.

For the last 35 years, we’ve set out to do things differently. No cookie-cutter tours. No giant buses or cruise ships. And not to mention, as few selfie sticks as possible. Just real humans, travelling your heart out across the world with open minds and a non-stop desire to make our planet better, simply by exploring it.

At G Adventures, our DNA (or GNA, if you will) is built on belonging — where bringing your authentic self to work every day isn’t just accepted, it’s downright celebrated. For our office crew — you wanna rock a t-shirt with your dog’s face on it? We say go for it. For our Chief Experience Officers —  you wanna hit the road and call some of the most epic places on Earth your home office? We love that — and we’ve got you. Wanna spend your days with people you genuinely like? Us too — and we’re pretty sure you’ll fit right in, wherever that is.

Now about that career of yours — this is the kind of place where you can spread your wings and truly grow into your role. The best part? You get to do it all alongside a passionate, freakishly talented, one-of-a-kind bunch excited to produce top-notch work and spread a ridiculous amount of goodness at the same time.

Feel like this could be the right fit? We think so too, and we’re already way too excited to meet you.

About the Role

G Adventures is searching for a passionate PR and communications expert to join our PR powerhouse. Overseeing all public relations in the U.S, this is a rare opportunity for a creative, connected and values-driven individual to join our community and share in our mission of changing lives through travel.

We work hard, and we play hard! This role offers global travel, a passionate team, a global community united by our award-winning culture, access to leading industry events and a wealth of stories, ready to be told.

You will act as the regional expert for all elements of PR and communications across the United States. The location of the role is negotiable, with Boston, Toronto (Canada) or a US-based media hub being preferred.

Working closely with both the global and regional teams, you will develop and implement the communications strategy for the US in line with the global vision, working with the very best media, content creators and partners to amplify our message. With a wealth of untold stories, innovative launches and access to some of the industry’s best thought leaders, the Communications Manager will be responsible for sharing the word of G in a strategic and impactful way.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and distribute press releases, targeted pitches and other media materials to consumer and trade media, securing impactful coverage for G Adventures in target media

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop news-worthy pitches for media

  • Plan, organise and execute small and large-scale events in the region with the support of the regional and global teams

  • Build on G Adventures’ strong reputation as the leader in the adventure travel sector and the pioneer of community tourism. Work closely with Planterra, G Adventures’ non-profit partner, to tap into the human stories which demonstrate the impact our travel has on local communities

  • Secure and support interviews, speaking opportunities and comment pieces for leaders across the business, including our founder, Bruce Poon Tip, Chief Executive Officer, Ben Perlo and VP of Growth Steve Lima

  • In line with the global and regional strategy, continue to secure a strong bank of impactful media coverage in A list titles, both across trade, consumer and broadcast

  • Scope, curate, and submit our industry award entries, to maintain consistent success

  • Manage all press trips from US media and content creators, helping them to tell the story of G Adventures through first-hand travel experiences

  • Lead group press trips with media from across the US and beyond, where relevant

  • Maintain relationships with key partners including airlines, tourism boards and travel agents, keeping them updated on G Adventures news and opportunities to be able to work collaboratively on media trips and editorial

  • Lead with service, managing all press office duties including responding in timely manner to incoming media requests, monitoring all coverage and managing press lists

  • Work alongside the critical incident team to manage and develop media responses to any crisis incidents

  • Reporting on communications from your region, providing tangible stats in line with the strategy to demonstrate successes and inform learnings

  • Supporting the Sales and Marketing teams in the US, participating in local consumer and trade events

  • Support larger business-wide projects and launches, where relevant

  • Work with the leader and regional marketing teams to ensure all communications are streamlined for maximum impact.

  • Experience - we’re looking for at least 6 years of experience in PR and communications, either in agency or in-house

  • Be our ‘boots on the ground’ in the US, attending industry and media functions across the US to grow and nurture strategic relationships with media, creators and industry partners.

  • Ability to travel - as storytellers, we often go to the source of the story and the individual must be able to travel both regionally and internationally

  • Develop and implement the G Adventures communication strategy for the US market, continuing to position us as the leader in the adventure travel and responsible travel sector

  • Have a nose for a good story, and how and where to tell it. A strong understanding and connections within the travel industry and media, with proven understanding of how to place stories based on target audiences
