The communications intern will work closely with team members to write and edit a variety of materials to support internal communications and media relations. This individual will also assist with ongoing programs and special events.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is a Partner of Choice for the Nebraska University System. Our Interns work a hybrid schedule and spend some days working on-site at our Omaha office located in Aksarben Village.  Therefore, you will need to live within commuting distance from Wednesday, May 26 – Friday, July 30, 2027.

What you'll do:

  • Write and edit a variety of communication pieces, including intranet and newsroom content, press releases, social media posts, posters, scripts, brochures and other company collateral

  • Work closely with communications staff to coordinate programs and projects

  • Assist with special event planning and execution

  • Must meet or exceed department attendance and timeliness requirements

  • Must work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with others

To be considered for this position, you must have: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Journalism, English, Advertising, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Business

  • Strong organizational skills with consistent attention to details and deadlines

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Strong collaboration and communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of AP Style
