Work-Study Position: FMHS Social Media Ambassador & Content Creator

Communications Office, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking a Work Study student to join our dynamic Social Media team. We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic storyteller who is confident on camera and passionate about creating engaging content that showcases life at the Faculty. A strong student voice and perspective are especially valued, as this role will help bring authentic student experiences to our social media channels in fresh, relatable, and engaging ways.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Film, edit, and produce short-form videos for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and other platforms as needed.
  • Interview students, staff, and faculty to create compelling social content
  • Appear on camera to host, narrate, or interview — bringing McGill FMHS community stories and campus culture to life.
  • Take casual photos at events and on campus (no pro photography experience needed — just a good eye).
  • Contribute ideas for trends, video series, and campaigns.
  • Assist with content calendar and creative planning sessions related to FMHS
  • Create and edit graphics or visuals using Canva (or similar tools).
  • Perform analytics using data reports and other tools to assess performance metrics.
  • The role would be for 5 hours per week for an immediate start until September 2027, with possibility of extension (hourly rate TBC)

Qualifications Required:

  • Currently enrolled at McGill University, in FMHS program.
  • Experience with video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut and graphic design tools like Canva.
  • Familiar with content management systems and maintaining social media platforms.
  • Excellent command of English and French, with strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks promptly and efficiently.
  • Comfortable conducting interviews and to engage effectively with the student community and encourage their participation in content creation.
  • Creative and familiar with the latest trends in social media.
  • Highly organized and creative, familiar with Instagram and social media management
