Great Hill has an opening for a Public Affairs Officer to support upcoming work with the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP). This team member will lead strategic communications, focus on donor recruitment and outreach communication and programming, support media engagement and crisis communications.  This role will ensure all communications align with Department of Defense (DoD) policies, regulatory requirements, and Defense Health Agency (DHA) strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual ASBP communications strategy.
  • Create campaign calendars, communication plans, and performance metrics.
  • Design and implement targeted donor recruitment campaigns including developing outreach materials (digital and print.)
  • Collaborate with and coordinate promotional support for blood drives across military installations.
  • Draft press releases, fact sheets, talking points, and media advisories and support leadership messaging.
  • Develop crisis communication plans and response protocols.
  • Manage ASBP digital platforms and social media channels.
  • Develop educational content on blood safety and donor eligibility.
  • Communicate policy updates and program changes or other regulatory updates.
  • Track outreach effectiveness and donor conversion rates.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in public affairs, strategic communications, or military communications.
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD programs preferred.
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a public trust Clearance
  • Strong writing, editing, and executive briefing skills.
  • Familiarity with federal communication policies and approval processes.
  • Ability to travel.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting blood programs, healthcare organizations, or public health initiatives.
  • Knowledge of donor recruitment strategy and community engagement.
  • Proficiency in digital analytics tools and content management systems.
  • Experience preparing senior leaders for media engagements.
