As an Executive Director in the structuring team, you will apply a strong understanding of commodities market drivers, risk, capital considerations, and regulatory frameworks to support thoughtful execution across the transaction lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead structuring development, documentation, financial modelling and pricing of commodities-linked structured solutions for both origination and distribution to suit client needs, with a focus on commodities financing and risk transactions
- Originate and distribute structures, partnering closely with internal stakeholders and engaging clients with clear, credible desk ideas
- Understand drivers of relevant markets including but not limited to commodity price dynamics, volatility, basis risk, credit risk, market risk, capital requirements, legal framework, regulatory requirements, and de-risk channels; establish a high degree of competence with both internal stakeholders and clients around executing trades
- Understand the firm’s approach and policies for managing risks in relevant business and applicable legal and regulatory rules, and follow policies; serve as a senior escalation point on trade design and execution risks
- Build foundation of trust with both internal stakeholders and clients by demonstrating an understanding of their needs, clearly articulating desk ideas, and being responsive
- Prepare and oversee presentation materials, financial models, internal risk analysis memos, and term sheets; work with legal to negotiate transaction documents
- Oversee the post trade process by ensuring the accuracy of all entries and to ensure internal controls are followed; provide senior ownership of execution quality and governance
Required Qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or other related disciplines
- Minimum 10 years of experience working within commodities structuring
- Entrepreneurial drive with strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Significant experience working in commodities structuring / structured financing / commodities derivatives desk, with demonstrated leadership in originating and executing complex transactions
- Well versed in the quantitative nature and framework of own product (e.g., documentation, pricing, models, etc.)
- Understands the different types of risk and can discuss in detail ways of managing these risk
- Familiarity with transaction documentation and common structured financing / structured derivatives structures (previous exposure in legal would be a plus)
- Demonstrable proficiency with market and product lingo
- Execution orientated with thorough understanding of drivers in relevant markets, transaction cycle, the steps in the process and able to explain and anticipate market movements.
