About the Role

Electro Switch is seeking an experienced Commodities Manager to lead strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives across our five business units. This is a corporate, hybrid position with Weymouth, Massachusetts as the primary home base, and a preference for candidates located in the Greater Boston/New England area.

The Commodities Manager will identify and execute opportunities to reduce material and supply chain costs, strengthen supplier partnerships, improve delivery performance, develop alternative sources of supply, and create greater consistency in sourcing and procurement practices across the organization.

This position will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance and will have the opportunity to make a measurable impact across multiple manufacturing businesses.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute commodity and sourcing strategies aligned with business and operational objectives.
  • Identify and deliver measurable cost savings and cost-avoidance opportunities, including improvements in purchase price variance (PPV).
  • Lead supplier sourcing activities, including supplier identification, RFQs, competitive bidding, negotiations, and contract management.
  • Identify and develop second-source suppliers to improve competition, reduce supply risk, and strengthen continuity of supply.
  • Evaluate sourcing opportunities across metals, MRO supplies, safety/PPE, hardware, and other materials and services.
  • Evaluate opportunities for Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs and strategic supplier partnerships across multiple business units.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, inventory agreements, rebate opportunities, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving improvements in quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers and leverage company-wide purchasing volume across five business units.
  • Support sourcing strategies for freight, shipping, logistics, and freight-forwarding services with a focus on reducing total company transportation costs.
  • Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, tariffs, and global supply chain risks and recommend appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on supplier selection, new product introductions, value engineering, and design-for-cost initiatives.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Planning to improve material availability, supplier on-time delivery, and inventory performance.
  • Develop supplier performance metrics and corrective action plans and lead supplier qualification and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain sourcing documentation, contracts, supplier information, and procurement data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Help develop and implement consistent sourcing and procurement processes across the company's business units.
 QualificationsWhat We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of strategic sourcing, purchasing, procurement, or commodity management experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and implementing cost savings, PPV improvements, supplier negotiations, or cost-avoidance initiatives.
  • Experience sourcing direct materials, industrial commodities, MRO supplies, metals, hardware, or related manufacturing materials is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing significant supplier spend.
  • Experience developing new suppliers and alternative/second sources of supply.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and supply chain management.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and sourcing/procurement data.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple business units and influence sourcing decisions across the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing locations or business units.
  • Experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing.
  • Global sourcing and international supplier experience.
  • Experience with MRO sourcing, VMI programs, freight/logistics sourcing, or supplier rebate programs.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • CPSM, CPM, CSCP, or similar purchasing/supply chain certification is a plus.
Work Arrangement & Travel

This is a hybrid corporate position with Weymouth, Massachusetts serving as the primary home base. The position will require an initial onsite presence to learn the business, operations, materials, and key stakeholders.

Ongoing flexibility will be available based on business needs and the requirements of the role.

Travel to other company locations will be required periodically to develop relationships with local teams, understand business requirements, evaluate sourcing opportunities, and implement company-wide initiatives.

Why Join Electro Switch?

This is an opportunity to have a direct impact across five business units rather than supporting a single facility. The Commodities Manager will have visibility across the organization and the ability to identify and implement sourcing strategies that reduce costs, improve supplier performance, strengthen supply continuity, and create greater purchasing leverage across the company.

Skills Required
