Purpose:

Sells new and used compact construction equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and utility tractors to commercial and residential customers with internal and external sales calls. Consistently exhibits Midwest Machinery Company’s core purpose and values.


Responsibilities:

  • Represents the location in the sale of new and used compact construction equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and utility tractors for internal and external sales
  • Creates, develops, and maintains customer accounts, including business to business and business to customer accounts, including commercial clients in landscaping, agriculture, construction, and related industries
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and sales pipeline in CRM systems
  • Has a retail-selling emphasis (understands task-oriented questions to ask, validates customer requirements, proposes solution, offers demonstration and moves to close)
  • Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all equipment potentially saleable by the dealership, with an emphasis on utility tractors, implements & attachments as well as lawn and garden products
  • Maintains and reports all lawn and garden and utility tractor customer activities and trends in assigned territory to sales management
  • Explain and assist customers with various financing options available to support equipment purchases.
  • Coordinates with location personnel in displaying sale of compact construction equipment, lawn and garden equipment and utility tractors to enhance sales and customer experience.
  • Helps organize product demonstrations and clinics for customers and participates in trade shows and dealership promotional events
  • Attends and participates in applicable sales training events/seminars
  • Maintains current knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes
  • Conduct both inside sales (in-store/customer visits) and outside sales (on-site customer meetings and territory management).
  • Provide product demonstrations, pricing, and quotes tailored to customer needs.
  • Negotiate sales agreements and close deals to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Coordinate with the service and parts departments to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery.
  • Stay current on industry trends, product knowledge, competitor offerings, and financing programs.
  • Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates an understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of retail sales experience
  • 1+ years equipment sales experience
  • Ability to sell in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Knowledge of compact construction equipment, lawn and garden and utility tractor products
  • No agriculture experience required
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Ability to speak and write effectively one-on-one and within a group
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions

Physical and Mental and Other Requirements:

  • Occasional bending and stooping
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record required
  • Must pass a pre-employment background study
