PermitFlow offers permit software for developers, builders, contractors, and more.
The Role
Own and scale PermitFlow’s Commercial sales pod from two to seven or more AEs. Recruit, coach, and ramp enterprise sellers; build the sales playbook, forecasting, pipeline, compensation, and quota processes; lead complex multi-stakeholder deals across AEC, real estate, and commercial verticals; develop ROI-based business cases; and partner with Solutions Consulting, BDR, Customer Success, and Operations to drive land-and-expand revenue.
Summary Generated by Built In

PermitFlow is redefining how America builds. We’re an applied AI company serving the nation’s builders, tackling one of the largest information challenges in the economy: understanding what can be built, where, and how. Our AI agent workforce helps the fastest-growing construction companies navigate everything from permitting and licensing to inspections and project closeouts – accelerating housing, clean-energy, and infrastructure development across the country.

Despite being a $1.6T industry, construction still suffers from massive delays, wasted capital, and lost opportunity. PermitFlow has already delivered unprecedented speed, accuracy, and visibility to over $20B in development, helping contractors reduce compliance time, de-risk projects, and scale with confidence.

As the U.S. enters a new capex supercycle across data centers, factories, housing, and renewables, joining PermitFlow means building the AI infrastructure at the core of every construction project driving the next wave of reindustrialization.

We’ve raised over $90M, most recently completing our Series B, from top-tier investors including Accel, Kleiner Perkins, Initialized, Y Combinator, Felicis, and Altos Ventures, with backing from leaders at OpenAI, Google, Procore, ServiceTitan, Zillow, PlanGrid, and Uber.

Why PermitFlow Wants You

Our Commercial segment is the highest-permitting-pain, highest upside vertical in our business. The buying committee here is fundamentally different from other GTM motions we’ve built: Architects, Engineers, and Owners (AEO) — plus the GCs and design firms who execute their programs — control permitting decisions for retail rollouts, healthcare and clinic buildouts, hospitality, industrial/logistics, and financial services real estate. This is a distinct, multi-stakeholder enterprise sale, not a variation of our existing playbooks.

We're already the clear leader in this space. It's a rare, wide-open opportunity to build the category-defining sales engine for Commercial — and to define how PermitFlow wins here for years to come.

You'll take ownership of PermitFlow's Commercial sales pod — today two AEs, scaling to 7 AEs plus dedicated BDR capacity. Reporting to our VP of Sales, you'll build the team, the playbook, and the sales motion largely from scratch: a land-and-expand, multi-stakeholder enterprise sale unlike anything else in our GTM organization today.

Your first hire/current team member operates under the Enterprise Account Executive – Commercial & National Accounts role — you'll own hiring, ramping, and coaching against that profile as you scale the pod.

This is a 0-to-1 leadership opportunity. You'll be defining how PermitFlow wins in Commercial.

Our HQ is in New York City with a hybrid schedule (3 in-office days per week). We prefer NYC-based candidates or those open to relocation.

What You'll Do
  • Own revenue and team execution for the Commercial pod — two today, scaling toward 7+ Commercial AEs — including forecasting, pipeline hygiene, and deal visibility across long, non-linear sales cycles.

  • Recruit, hire, and ramp Commercial AEs against the Enterprise Account Executive – Commercial & National Accounts profile, building the hiring bar, onboarding, and enablement for a segment with no established playbook.

  • Lead and coach the team through complex, multi-threaded deals spanning Architects, Engineers, Owners, GCs, and Real Estate/REIT stakeholders — any of whom may be the ultimate buyer.

  • Prioritize the highest-volume, lowest-complexity programs — Facilities and Commercial TI/remodel work — across target verticals including Retail & Big Box, Food & Beverage, Fitness & Wellness, Healthcare & Clinics, Financial Services, Hospitality, and Industrial/Logistics.

  • Build ROI-driven business cases that resonate with enterprise owners, GCs, and architecture/engineering firm leadership.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Solutions Consulting, BDR, Customer Success, and Ops to scope pilots, manage the CSM handoff, and keep delivery capacity ahead of land-and-expand growth.

  • Build and refine comp, quota, and pipeline processes suited to Commercial's LVC/ARR hybrid revenue model, in partnership with RevOps.

  • Surface field and customer insight to Sales leadership to inform the 2027 Commercial scaling decision and broader GTM roadmap.

  • Travel as needed for customer meetings, industry conferences, and stakeholder-network visits.

Who You Are
  • Emerging Sales Leader: 5+ years in enterprise SaaS sales, with 1–2+ years of management or team-lead experience (player-coach background a plus)

  • 0-to-1 Builder: Comfortable standing up a new sales motion and team from a base of two reps, without an existing playbook to lean on

  • Strategic, Land-and-Expand Seller: Skilled at navigating multi-stakeholder deals — Architects, Engineers, Owners, GCs, Real Estate — and turning a single initial deal into full stakeholder-network penetration

  • AEC/Commercial Industry Knowledge: Experience selling into commercial real estate, architecture/engineering firms, retail or restaurant development, or construction-tech strongly preferred — this is not a home services background

  • Data-Driven Operator: Fluent in CRM systems, sales automation tools, and performance analytics; comfortable building new comp and quota structures for a non-standard, LVC-heavy revenue model

  • Problem-Solver & Storyteller: Surfaces operational pain points and builds compelling, ROI-backed business cases for enterprise and architecture/engineering-firm stakeholders

  • Cross-Functional Partner: Builds senior-level relationships quickly, and partners closely with Solutions, BDR, CS, and Ops to keep the motion moving

  • Mission-Driven: Energized by transforming how America's largest brands build, and by scaling technology in one of the largest industries in the world

How Success Will Be Measured
  • Team attainment against Commercial revenue and pipeline targets

  • Growth of the Commercial pod from 2 to 4–7 AEs, plus stood-up dedicated BDR support

  • Conversion rate of wedge/test-site deals into larger LVC bundles and ARR contracts

  • Pipeline generated by activating the existing architect/GC network into net-new opportunities

  • Contribution to a repeatable, scalable Commercial playbook — the model we'll replicate for Builders/GCs and future verticals

  • Hiring, retention, and development of a high-performing Commercial sales team

What We Offer (Full-Time Roles Only)
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity in a high-growth company

  • 100% company-paid base medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees + healthcare FSA

  • 401(k) savings plan

  • Unlimited PTO and paid family leave

  • Home office & equipment stipend

  • Daily in-office lunch and dinner provided

  • Commuter benefits (pre-tax transit and parking)

We work with everyone from single-family home builders to large commercial developers. The Impact: Since launching, we've helped permit $1.2B+ in project value and over 5,000 units of housing. We're not just making permitting faster—we're addressing the housing affordability crisis by removing barriers that slow down construction. How We're Different: Unlike generic workflow software, we're built by industry insiders who understand the unique challenges of each municipality. We combine deep permitting expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver results that matter.
