Job Description

The Commercial Operations Manager will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and cross-functional alignment within and across commercial functions.  The role will significantly contribute to commercial efficiency, cross-functional alignment and scalability.  The role demands a commercially astute, highly adaptable professional who can navigate complex environments and step into multiple functions to troubleshoot, strategise, and deliver results.  This is a dynamic, high-impact role for someone with strong business acumen and influential skills, who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys being dropped into tough problems — whether operational, structural, or strategic, and driving them to a resolution.

This is not a traditional role.  It is designed for a smart, curious generalist who can quickly understand context, ask the right questions, and deliver clear, pragmatic solutions that move the business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Problem Solving
    • Lead and manage commercial operations projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and execution of initiatives that drive growth and operational efficiency.
    • Diagnose problems quickly, and proactively address them, delivering practical solutions with speed and clarity.
    • Take ownership of diverse commercial challenges, which may include process inefficiencies, team coordination breakdowns, supplier issues, reporting gaps, or unstructured business problems.
    • Design and implement scalable solutions, working cross-functionally with stakeholders from sales, operations, marketing, supply chain, and executive leadership.
    • Rapidly assess problems, gather stakeholder input, analyze data, and synthesize insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
    • Drive process optimisation, through streamlining and enhancing commercial processes to maximize cross functional performance, to ultimately enhance customer and patient experience.
    • You build repeatable solutions that can be used again across the business.
    • Improve and document workflows, operational playbooks, and decision-making frameworks.
    • Identify patterns across issues and recommend structural improvements to enhance commercial operations.
    • Maintain flexibility to switch gears quickly and manage multiple concurrent issues.
  • Communication & Execution
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, tailoring messaging to audiences ranging from frontline teams to executives.
    • Jump in where needed, whether that’s standing up a new process, triaging an urgent supplier issue, facilitating a workshop, or drafting an implementation plan.
    • Balance strategic thinking and operational execution to every challenge.
    • Serve as a versatile team member who can plug into various projects including supply chain triage, commercial analytics, strategic planning, or team Manager.
    • Build strong stakeholder relationships and trust in your ability to exercise judgement and cut through complexity.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in commercial operations, project management, or business strategy.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data informed decisions.
  • Experience using enterprise CRM and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting, strategy, operations, or a commercial role in a high-growth or complex business.
  • Strong business judgement and an ability to quickly grasp new industries, teams, or processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills — structured, curious, and solution-oriented.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of creating structure in unstructured environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a talent for navigating stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bias for action, ownership, and delivering tangible outcomes.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or related regulated industry is a plus.
