Key Responsibilities
The Commercial Manager is responsible for leading, managing and directing a Sales team within a specific geographic area to achieve excellent customer service performance as well as generating sales for each of the plants, building customer relationships and generating strategies to increase opportunities and profitability.
  • Lead and implement the Commercial strategy including processes and procedures in the pursuit of winning work and achieving required Sales revenue/margin, budgets and targets
  • Provide superior customer service and deliver a continual improvement in business growth in accordance with strategic objectives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key business customers at the appropriate level, to understand their objectives and ensure they are delivered
  • Secure key targeted major opportunities and position the business as market choice
  • Provide clients with material prices and technical information and manage enquiries 
  • Liaise with quarries to ensure material to suit customer needs are available at the correct times and provide effective communication to customers
  • Compile reports with regards to weekly/monthly sales revenue; forecasting sales, recommendations on cost-effectiveness and annual budget 
  • Maintain a high degree of market and competitor awareness raising the profile and brand of the Breedon Group
  • Develop a highly professional sales team through a strong performance management culture 
  • Motivate team to maximise commercial performance and foster good working relationships between departments
  • Support the General Manager to establish and monitor KPIs and review those KPI’s with the Sales team

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject and/or have extensive relevant experience operating at a senior level within a commercial role 
  • Experience of the construction environment 
  • Commercially focused and ability to respond appropriately on your own to improve outcomes and process’s and assumes responsibility for your own performance
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a dynamic work environment
  • Highly effective communicator and facilitator, able to collaborate across teams and levels
  • Ability to develop strong and lasting customer relationships & value-added solutions
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a strong work ethic 
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) Word and experience with CRM software
  • Attention to detail and a right first time attitude
