Job Description

As the Commercial Manager – Oligos, you will be responsible for driving growth and market adoption of LGC’s Oligonucleotides portfolio across the EMEA region. This strategic role blends deep technical expertise with commercial leadership to ensure our customers receive outstanding support and solutions.

You will act as the subject matter expert for the Oligos portfolio, partnering closely with regional sales teams to enable success in the field, while collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, product management, technical teams, and leadership to deliver on growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the EMEA commercial strategy for the Oligonucleotides product line, including target customer segments, pricing, and growth initiatives.

  • Act as the primary expert resource for the Oligos portfolio, providing training, technical guidance, and sales enablement tools to the regional account managers and broader commercial teams.

  • Partner with marketing to design and implement targeted campaigns that drive awareness, adoption, and lead generation.

  • Support the field sales teams by participating in strategic customer meetings, providing subject matter expertise, and advising on solution positioning.

  • Lead or assist with complex quotations, proposals, and negotiation of commercial terms to secure high-value agreements.

  • Gather and share market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to inform product development and commercial planning.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, fostering trust and positioning LGC as a preferred supplier and strategic partner.

  • Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure customer requirements are met to the highest standard.

Reporting Line:

  • Reports to the Commercial Director, EMEA.

Location:

  • Remote-based within EMEA, up to 60% travel

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial role within life sciences, with a strong focus on oligonucleotides or closely related technologies.

  • Degree educated in life sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing product-specific commercial strategies in an international environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to support field sales teams through technical training, coaching, and complex deal support.

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, applications, and customer workflows related to oligonucleotide synthesis and usage.

  • Skilled in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and sales pipeline management.

Soft Skills:

  • Proactive self-starter with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Confident communicator who can simplify technical concepts for commercial teams and customers alike.

  • Strong relationship builder and collaborator, able to work effectively across functions and cultures.
