Location: Central London (hybrid; bias to office working with flexibility)

Team: Energy Flexibility

Level: Manager (5–10 years’ experience)

Working pattern: Central London office with a bias to office working; flexibility available. For the right candidate, reasonable adjustments considered (minimum 4 days/week in the office).

Why this role exists

Own the day‑to‑day commercial operation of Ohme’s flexibility portfolio: turn market data into clear trading decisions, ensure safe and compliant dispatch, and continuously improve capture and reliability.

What you’ll do

  • Run the market view (day‑ahead and intraday) using NG ESO Data Portal, Elexon BMRS/Insights, and exchange platforms (e.g., EPEX SPOT/Nord Pool); translate signals into concise trading notes and actions.
  • Assign assets to dispatch groups and implement real‑time operating decisions (e.g., BM strategies, constraint management), with clear audit trails.
  • Plan and submit bids/offers in DSO flexibility tenders (via Piclo Flex and DSO portals) and support delivery and settlement.
  • Monitor delivery performance during events; coordinate with operations/engineering; complete post‑event reviews and P&L attribution.
  • Oversee lightweight automations (e.g., n8n) for alerts and daily packs; define SLOs and triage incidents.
  • Keep Capacity Market obligations on track in steady‑state (delivery, metering evidence, reporting) and support auction participation alongside the Market Delivery Manager.

What you’ll bring (skills & experience)

Mindset (what we value)

  • Action‑oriented, calm under pressure, collaborative; concise communicator who closes the loop and leaves things clearer than they found them.

Core skills you’ll use

  • Strong grounding in GB markets operations: DSO flexibility, ESO balancing/BM, day‑ahead/intraday; practical experience with some platforms (Piclo Flex; DSO portals — UKPN, SSEN, ENWL, SPEN, NGED; Elexon BMRS/Insights; NG ESO Data Portal; EPEX/Nord Pool; EMR Delivery Body) or equivalent.
  • Decision‑making under time pressure; clear written records and approvals.
  • Spreadsheets for analysis and reporting; working knowledge of Python or SQL helpful for diagnostics and backtests.
  • Familiarity with risk concepts (capture vs benchmark, imbalance exposure, scenario testing) and compliance expectations.

Helpful

  • Experience leading small teams or a rota; incident management and post‑mortems.
  • Version control (Git) and automation oversight (n8n/Make/Zapier); comfort shaping requirements for internal tools.

What success looks like (6–12 months)

  • Capture vs benchmark improved; imbalance costs reduced.
  • DSO win‑rate and delivery performance trending up; clean audit trail.
  • Reliable market packs/alerts with defined SLOs; fewer manual touchpoints.
  • Clear, adopted playbooks and handovers for out‑of‑hours coverage.
