POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Commercial Finance Specialist plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between finance and business operations, driving profitability, and enabling strategic decision-making. This role requires a mix of analytical expertise, financial acumen, and strong business insight to support commercial teams and senior management. Your role will include strategic planning, executive reporting, and margin optimization in financial leadership and support of Sales Operations, Procurement, and Line of Business (LOB) Engineering. You will be in frequent contact with Sales to assess quoting inputs, savings commitments, and ensuring the follow-through in execution. Additionally, this role will work over commercial pricing and terms with customers to mitigate finance risks across credit/treasury, inventory, liquidated damages, terminations, etc. This role requires leadership and experience in manufacturing finance, strategic finance analysis, process creation, and continuous improvement


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Sales Operations and LOB to ensure we utilize the most accurate and recent bill of material costs, inflation, margin targets, competitive intel, and other relevant assumptions for selling price decisions.
  • Establish a process to track cost savings commitments made during the quoting process and translate those commitments on awarded quotes to the functional project management tools for accountability and execution.
  • Review and approve finance terms and conditions during the quote and contract review process including but not limited to invoicing requirements, payment terms, billing schedules, liquidated damages, and cancellation.
  • Implement and lead a reporting cadence for sales and margin risk assessment leveraging inputs from backlog, quotes, and opportunities with comparisons to regional and LOB sales and margin targets. 
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support as a business partner to Sales and LOB leadership.
  • Miscellaneous responsibilities and special projects as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Job Qualifications: 

  • 4-8+ years in a finance role, with at least 2 years in a commercial or business partnering capacity.
  • Leadership skills in business partnership and process implementation.
  • Experience in standard costing and manufacturing accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to pull together and summarize large amounts of data into concise explanations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • ERP Systems experience, preferably Oracle or SAP.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law or related field.
  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is preferred.
  • Advanced English and Spanish.
