Let’s start with the role
The Commercial Controller will play a key role in supporting the Commercial Ops team by monitoring and managing commercial budgets and costs for their assigned markets. This position will work closely with various Commercial teams (e.g. Marketing, Sponsorships, CRM, local Commercial teams) and other departments such as Finance and Procurement to ensure efficient financial planning, cost control, and budget adherence. The Commercial Controller will serve as a crucial liaison between Finance and Commercial operations, ensuring smooth communication and alignment between HQ as well as local stakeholders and Finance operations while tracking the achievement of commercial targets.
As a Commercial Controller, you will:
- Assist in the preparation and management of commercial budgets in collaboration with the Commercial teams and Finance;
- Monitor and analyze budget variances, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with financial guidelines;
- Provide financial insights to support commercial decision-making;
- Track and control commercial spending, ensuring alignment with budgeted figures;
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, analyzing variances and highlighting key trends;
- Develop financial models and dashboards to support business decisions and commercial strategies;
- Act as a bridge between Finance, Procurement, and Commercial teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration;
- Liaise with accounting operations to ensure timely processing of commercial expenses and adherence to financial policies;
- Help identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency enhancements.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred);
- 5+ years of experience in a controlling, financial analysis, or commercial finance role;
- Experience working in a commercial or marketing finance environment is a plus;
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and reporting;
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar);
- Strong proficiency in English, with additional language skills considered an asset
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools is a plus.
