We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with experience of managing all aspects of category and contract management and delivery of quantifiable procurement efficiencies, to join our procurement team. 

Candidates should hold the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Diploma and full corporate membership (MCIPS) level 6, graduate diploma, have good communication skills and a good interpretation of public procurement legislation. 

Working as part of a small team the Commercial & Contract Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Healthcare & Forensic Services in Custody Contract for South Yorkshire & Humberside Police. This is complex high value and collaborative contract; travel will be required between Humberside and South Yorkshire.
  •  Managing commercial and contract management strategies for a portfolio of spend to achieve the strategic aims and objectives of the Force.
  • Leading and managing force procurement projects, ensuring delivery is in line with customer requirements and timescales.
  • Negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders to deliver contracts that are compliant with Contract Standing Orders and Procurement Legislation to protect the Force from financial and reputational risk, ensuring value for money is achieved.

Skills and experience:

  • Relevant experience of managing all aspects of category management and delivery of quantifiable procurement efficiencies.

  • Demonstrate experience of leading and managing procurement projects.
  • Experience of managing complex high value collaborative contracts, service agreements, or supplier relationships, ideally in a public sector environment. 
  • Experience of monitoring performance and managing suppliers to deliver agreed outcomes, quality standards, and value for money.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and challenge constructively where performance or standards fall short.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Diploma & full corporate membership (MCIPS) Level 6 Graduate Diploma.

  • Good interpretation of Procurement legislation.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
