At our site in Alexandria, Minnesota, we design, manufacture, test and provide service support of LGC, Biosearch Technologies laboratory instrumentation and consumables. Products produced and distributed from this location enable scientists to make the world a safer place and enables customers in areas such as developing and identifying new plant hybrids, testing and tracking of food products for food safety, and research to support human diagnostic testing. The Alexandria site represents a centre of excellence for Biosearch Technologies in the areas of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Service by supplying and supporting customers and team members around the world. Job Description
The Commercial Analyst is a critical resource for the global commercial team within LGC Diagnostics and Genomics (D&G) business unit. This role is expected to provide timely and detailed analysis of sales and marketing data and to help support the communications within the global sales team and global finance team. The Commercial Analyst will have primary responsibility to support global sales activities and initiatives with a secondary responsibility to assist the global finance team. This experienced analyst is responsible for working closely with other commercial analysts dedicated to organizing, validating and preparing accurate and timely data for the purpose of presentations, dashboards, sales territory analysis and customer type, customer, product and install base analyses. The commercial analysts will be expected to deliver required monthly and quarterly reports, to recommend and establish new leading indicators to the health of the business unit, to conduct detailed analysis of sales performance and associated metrics and to provide master data integrity. The Commercial Analyst is a key resource to help the LGC Diagnostics and Genomics team to understand the key measures in our business.
The Commercial Analyst will have extensive experience with financial reporting, data aggregation from various input systems, and complex data analysis. This experience will include the identification, reporting and presentation of key business metrics and trends to associated functions within the D&G business. This role will have direct responsibility into commercial management but with a considerable breadth of responsibility for reporting across the LGC Diagnostics and Genomics operations. The role holder must be a leader but also a team player possessing the flexibility to contribute to business development activities.
The Commercial Analyst is expected to effectively contribute to cross-functional collaboration and coordination to comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that govern our business globally. The individual is expected to comply with all company quality management system policies and procedures. This position is very dynamic and requires both focus and attention to detail in a fast paced environment.
- To support Commercial leadership in all aspects commercial data analysis and reporting.
- Provide mentoring and support to other commercial analyst.
- Proactively review and report on commercial performance across regions, territories, and accounts.
- Content generation and support of routine monthly and quarterly reporting requirements and presentations to Genomics management.
- Maintains master alignment of accounts and sales territories; updates and/or oversees input of accurate information into ERP and Salesforce.com systems to ensure data integrity.
- Conduct analysis for commercial business related to budgeting and forecasting on a regional and global scale.
- Assist Commercial Directors in regional data analysis requirements and opportunity identification.
- Support the global and regional finance teams with commercial inputs including data reporting and analysis requirements.
- Propose, develop and implement improvements to sales and marketing reporting tools through the identification of key leading and lagging indicators on the health of the business.
- Recommends data requirement standards to ERP and Business Object teams.
- Work closely with management and colleagues in the commercial team to ensure key initiatives are supported to maximize revenue opportunities. This will include price elasticity modelling, proposal pricing analysis, pro forma projections with key opportunities, and other similar duties.
- Performs ad hoc analysis as needed.
- Develops methods and strategies for assessing large amounts of data.
- Closely studies past sales data to determine trends and shares with sales leadership.
- Creates sales evaluation reports based on collected data.
- Manage the daily product tracking report that will communicate demand, revenue recognition, product testing and commercial launch execution.
- Produce KPI updates for product launch and performance tracking.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial and sales data analysis in a relevant market sector with demonstrable experience and skills.
- 5+ years of experience in reporting and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, Salesforce.com, etc.)
- Leadership experience desired
- Expert Excel skill
Other Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:
- Experience in data mining, manipulation, and analysis in multiple database systems
- Industry experience (life sciences, biotech) or experience working in a global organization preferred
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders to successful completion.
- Results-oriented, ensuring targets are met on time and on budget
- Experience in strategic financial and business planning.
