The Role

Join Hoag’s industry leading Revenue Cycle team and help ensure accurate, timely reimbursement that supports our mission of delivering exceptional patient care. As a Collector II, you’ll serve as a key account representative, partnering with insurance companies, government payors, and patients to resolve claims and secure proper payment‑leading Revenue Cycle team and help ensure accurate, timely reimbursement that supports our mission of delivering exceptional patient care. 

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Manage assigned accounts and work queues with accuracy and efficiency
  • Review claims for correct pricing and initiate timely appeals for underpayments
  • Communicate with payors and patients to resolve billing, coding, and payment discrepancies
  • Interpret EOBs/ERAs and ensure payments align with contract terms
  • Document all actions in Epic or Athena and maintain high productivity and quality standards
  • Support special rates, discounts, and other account adjustments as needed
  • Collaborate across the Revenue Cycle to ensure smooth, compliant workflows
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Experience with Epic or Athena billing systems
  • Strong understanding of managed care contracts, payor requirements, and the full revenue cycle
  • Knowledge of UB‑04 and HCFA 1500 billing forms
  • Familiarity with commercial, government, and exchange payors (Medicare, Medi‑Cal, TriCare, HMO/PPO/EPO, etc.)
  • Ability to independently research and resolve complex issues
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of professional billing/collections experience and strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
