Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Migration Engineer to join our IT team. This full-time position focuses on converting COBOL-based batch processes into Oracle PL/SQL 19c. The role is onsite in New Jersey.
What You'll Do
-
Analyze existing COBOL batch applications that are heavily SQL-based to understand their functionality and business logic

Design and implement conversion strategies to migrate COBOL applications to Oracle PL/SQL 19c

Develop, test, and deploy Oracle stored procedures to replace COBOL batch processes

Optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code for performance and scalability
-
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to ensure the converted applications meet business requirements and maintain data integrity

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the conversion process and post-migration
-
Document new processes and ensure that all converted applications are well documented for future reference and maintenance
-
Provide training and support to team members and other staff on the new PL/SQL processes

Work with testing teams to ensure that all converted applications are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards
What You'll Need
Required:
-
Proven experience in COBOL programming and Oracle PL/SQL development
-
Strong understanding of SQL and database management systems, particularly Oracle 19c
-
Experience with database design and optimization techniques
-
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
-
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
-
Experience in large-scale data migration projects
-
Experience with other modern programming languages and tools, such as Java and Eclipse
Physical Demands

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
