We are seeking one talented individual to join our Marsh Global Connect team at MarshRisk. This role will be based in Cluj, Romania. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.
As Marsh approaches an exciting growth stage, we are looking for an IT Developer (Z/OS Mainframe) to join the Continental Europe Information and Technology team. The fiduciary platform runs on a Z/OS mainframe (COBOL/VSAM/TSO/FOCUS) and currently serves 6,000 users in over 30 countries.
To strengthen our IT Application team, we are looking for an IT Developer to support the implementation of ongoing and new projects within the fiduciary service center managed out of Brussels, Belgium.
In this capacity, you will be involved in all initiatives (both change and run the business), ensuring that the delivered outcomes align with business requirements. In this role, you will eventually act as a pivotal point of contact between business demands from several regions (Continental Europe, UK & Ireland, Eastern Europe, and Africa) and the IT delivery teams.

We will count on you to:
Participate in the functional and technical analysis and challenge the scoping of the project;
Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications and programs;
Analyze and troubleshoot existing COBOL code to identify and resolve issues;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement solutions;
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices;
Write and maintain technical documentation for applications and processes;
Participate in system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT);
Provide support and training to end-users as needed;
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in COBOL and related technologies;

Excellent communication skills in both English and Romanian;
A long-term commitment to building a career in a mainframe environment;
Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall);
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail;

Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives, including cloud migration and integration with modern technologies;
