Summary:  Supervises all facets of production operations including processes and people. Continuously improves operations and ensures a clean, safe workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Accountable for production operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains standards of health and safety, hygiene, housekeeping and security in the work environment.
  • Motivates, organizes, and encourages at the individual and team levels to ensure set productivity targets are met.
  • Makes sound decisions using facts and data that are in the best interest of Cobalt.
  • Holds all individuals, including him/herself, accountable for delivering results and satisfying internal and external customers.
  • Plans and executes changes in support of model changes, capacity and/or schedule modifications.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks and utilizes them appropriately.
  • Maintains/improves productivity, efficiency, and performance by reviewing reports and statistics and making appropriate adjustments
  • Recommends measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department including performance of personnel and equipment.
  • Continuously improves production operations using lean enterprise practices.
  • Understands hazardous materials and the proper and safe handling of such ensuring all proper policies and procedures are followed.
  • Shows initiative, courage, integrity, and bases decisions on what is best for the company, not the individual.
  • Identifies and develops team members to be future leaders.
  • Leads by example.
  • Identifies areas for personal growth and seeks opportunities for ongoing education.
  • Completes production requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; monitors work results and executes corrective actions when required.
  • Maintains production staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees.
  • Monitors staff performance and progress.
  • Explores options for internal and external activities having impacts on the department and/or business.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Supervisory skills and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret business documents and data.
  • Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education and/or Experience:  

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:  

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, electronic mail, procedures and performance documents, as examples, in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively conduct meetings in person and with technology assistance.

Mathematical Skills:  

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to utilize data to make business decisions. 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Typical 10-hour workdays based upon facility.
  • Typical 4- or 5-day work week schedule based upon facility and schedule loading.
  • Overtime is occasional to frequent based on several factors.
  • Required to work indoors and outdoors, year-round and in all weather conditions.
  • May be required to work during production shutdowns or other “off-schedule” periods to conduct special activities.
  • Safety glasses required while in production areas.
  • Other PPE may be required based on specific projects.
