Job Title: Coating Specialist – Offshore Project
KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based in Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi .
Job Purpose
The Coating Specialist is responsible for supervising and inspecting all surface preparation, painting, coating, and corrosion protection activities associated with offshore facilities. The role ensures compliance with ADNOC Offshore specifications, international coating standards, approved procedures, and project quality requirements to maintain asset integrity and operational reliability.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoating Inspection & Quality Control- Monitor and inspect surface preparation and coating application activities for offshore structures, modules, piping systems, pressure vessels, and equipment.
- Verify compliance with ADNOC Offshore specifications, project requirements, and coating manufacturer recommendations.
- Review and approve coating procedures, method statements, ITPs, and quality documentation.
- Ensure proper environmental conditions are maintained during blasting and painting operations.
- Witness coating activities during fabrication, construction, pre-commissioning, and installation phases.
Perform and verify:
- Surface cleanliness inspections (SSPC/NACE standards)
- Surface profile measurements
- Ambient condition monitoring
- Wet Film Thickness (WFT) inspection
- Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements
- Holiday detection testing
- Adhesion testing
- Salt contamination testing
- Coating curing verification
- Visual coating assessments
- Review corrosion mitigation programs for offshore assets.
- Monitor protective coating systems for splash zones, submerged structures, and atmospheric exposure areas.

- Maintain coating inspection records and daily reports.
- Review subcontractor quality records and test results.
- Prepare punch lists and monitor coating-related close-out activities.
- Support preparation of Mechanical Completion and Quality Dossiers.
- Manage NCRs, observations, and corrective actions related to coating activities.
- Interface with ADNOC Offshore representatives and third-party inspectors.
- Participate in quality audits and surveillance activities.
- Attend project quality meetings and provide technical support on coating issues.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
- NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 (Minimum)
- NACE CIP Level 3 (Preferred)
- BGAS Grade 2 Painting Inspector (Preferred)
- CSWIP Painting Inspector Certification (Preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of coating inspection experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, offshore, or petrochemical projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience on ADNOC Offshore projects or equivalent major offshore developments.
