CNC Toolsmith

POSITION SUMMARY:
The CNC Toolsmith is responsible for planning, setting up, programming, and performing a wide variety of precision machining operations to manufacture and repair tools, fixtures, molds, dies, prototype components, and related equipment. This role requires advanced machining knowledge, the ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications, and a strong commitment to quality, dimensional accuracy, and continuous improvement. The CNC Toolsmith will utilize CAMWORKS programming software and operate a variety of machining and grinding equipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Must possess the knowledge and ability to read blueprints, including GD&T, to determine machining requirements and specifications.
• Plan, layout, set-up, and perform machining operations of a diverse nature to produce components for tools, test equipment, fixtures, jigs, dies, molds, mechanisms, prototype components, and related equipment.
• Measure and verify work to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with specifications.
• Perform difficult machining operations requiring complex set-ups and occasionally improve tooling and set-ups to complete unusual or specialized operations.
• Responsible for quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned projects.
• Program CNC machines utilizing CAMWORKS software.
• Operate various equipment used in the toolmaking and machining process.
• Assemble parts into finished products and verify dimensions and alignments.
• Set up and operate surface grinders to grind surfaces of parts to specification.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: 

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a bona fide apprenticeship plus four years experience or eight years of practical experience.
