Job Title

CNC Set-Up SpecialistResponsible for loading, adjusting and creating complex, multi-axis CNC programs and operating manufacturing machinery to produce acceptable product. Works within a team environment to meet departmental goals. Maintains work area cleanliness.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform complex, multi-axis CNC machinery set-up by downloading and/or adjusting preset programs, or by creating complex new programs on a variety of CNC equipment

  • Operate CNC manufacturing equipment to produce acceptable product per work instructions

  • Maintain and support 5‑axis CNC milling equipment, including tool changes, part swaps, offsets, and calibration

  • Operate and maintain surface grinding equipment, ensuring machines remain in proper operating condition

  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions

  • Measure parts, enter offsets, and make adjustments to maintain parts within specification

  • Perform preventive and total productive maintenance (TPM) activities, including daily, weekly, and monthly PMs

  • Read and interpret technical drawings to determine machine set-up and production methods

  • Inspect parts for defects as part of in-process inspection; record results, adjust program or notify appropriate person of deviation when needed

  • Perform machine adjustments such as off-sets or setting tapers

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance such as changing coolants, filters, etc

  • Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment

  • Train incoming CNC Set-up personnel on processes and procedures

  • Wears required personal protective equipment at all times in areas where mandatory

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, 6S, and Lean Manufacturing standards

Job Requirements:

Shift:

  • Swing Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm (OT encouraged)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required

  • Vocational or technical certification preferred

Experience:

  • Three (3) years relevant CNC experience

  • Five (5) years CNC experience preferred

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with G‑Code and conversational programming

  • Strong machining background with hands‑on equipment operation

  • Preventive and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience

  • CNC programming knowledge, including CAD/CAM fundamentals and GD&T

  • Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to write, edit and modify advance CNC program options

  • Intermediate math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry) and computer skills

  • Deep knowledge of CAD/CAM programs and G & M codes

  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints

  • Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening skills

  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds

Target Hiring Range

Hourly: USD 34.89 - USD 38.50
