Electroswitch is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Rockland, Massachusetts. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC vertical machining centers and turning centers to manufacture precision components from engineering drawings and specifications.
The ideal candidate has strong CNC programming and machining experience and can independently determine machining sequences, select tooling, develop setups, troubleshoot programs, and inspect completed parts to ensure dimensional and quality requirements are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs both offline and at the machine.
- Program, set up, and operate DMG MORI, Okuma, Citizen, and Haas CNC equipment using Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens controls.
- Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers, turning centers, rotary indexing tables, dividing heads, and related machine-shop equipment.
- Determine machining sequences, tooling requirements, workholding methods, speeds, feeds, and setup procedures.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, shop orders, specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, rotary indexing tables, dividing heads, and related machine-shop equipment.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and CNC programs.
- Design or fabricate specialized fixtures and workholding devices when standard tooling is not available.
- Manufacture components and assemblies to specified dimensions and close tolerances.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using the appropriate precision measuring equipment.
- Make program, tooling, and machine adjustments to correct dimensional or quality issues.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming problems and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate setup, tooling, inspection, and production documentation.
- Follow all established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist and train other machine-shop employees as needed.
- Support other shop operations based on production requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in machining, manufacturing technology, or CNC programming strongly preferred.
- At least five years of related CNC programming and machining experience.
- Demonstrated experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and turning centers.
- Strong knowledge of machining methods, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, fixtures, and workholding.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
- Working knowledge of shop mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to independently determine machining sequences and produce parts from drawings.
- Proficiency with precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other measuring instruments.
- Ability to troubleshoot programs, setups, tooling, and dimensional problems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or Siemens CNC controls strongly preferred.
- Experience with DMG MORI, Okuma, Citizen, or Haas equipment is preferred.
- Experience programming both offline and at the machine is strongly preferred.
