SUMMARY: The CNC Operator Level 1 will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality parts that meet precise specifications. This is an entry-level position suitable for individuals with basic CNC experience or education, and a strong willingness to learn and grow in the field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain readiness of and operate CNC machines (horizontal and vertical mills) to produce parts according to specifications.
- Prioritize individual workflow to operate multiple CNC machines efficiently to hit productivity goals.
- Prepare castings for CNC machining, and load and unload castings ensuring they are correctly fixtured.
- Deburr, wash, and pressure test parts.
- Monitor process and machine performance during production runs to identify any potential issues, such as fixture alignment, tool wear, equipment malfunction, to ensure consistent quality.
- Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and machining finish to ensure product meets or exceeds quality standards.
- Maintain accurate production records, including part numbers, quantities, and any issues encountered during the machining process.
- Follow all safety protocols and process guidelines to ensure personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning the machine and ensuring that the workspace remains orderly and free of debris.
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED; Technical certification or vocational training in CNC operation or machining is preferred (e.g., CNC Operator/Technician program). No prior CNC experience required; however, any experience operating machinery or working in manufacturing is beneficial.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on operation experience with CNC machining centers.
- 4 or 5-axis VMC and or HMC experience.
- Fanuc Pro 3 or Pro 5 controller experience a plus.
- Experience with measuring and gauging equipment.
