POSITION SUMMARY
Machinist Level 3 is an advanced-level machinist fully capable of complex setups in their home department and actively cross-training in other machining disciplines, including CNC lathe, manual mill, and manual lathe.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform complex setups efficiently and independently.
- Train on and run machines outside their home department.
- Troubleshoot machines, tooling, or dimensional issues.
- Support fixture and process improvements.
- Mentor and guide Machinist I and II employees.
- Collaborate with leads and programmers to optimize machining processes.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical, vocational, or trade‑school machining education strongly preferred
- Independently performs complex CNC and manual machine setups
- Proficient in-home department (Mill or Lathe)
- Actively cross‑trained in additional machining disciplines
- Troubleshoots machining, tooling, and dimensional issues
- Supports fixture design and process improvements
- Reads and interprets complex blueprints and GD&T
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
