This role is part of our Space and Launch business, which has contributed to the nation’s space programs for decades by delivering complete solutions from concept to flight. We enable successful space operations with mission-critical technology supporting every step from first launch to final landing, including launch vehicle subsystems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic and interstage systems, and payload protection and deployment. Our high-performance solutions are engineered to operate in the most extreme environments and meet precise mission requirements.

Schedule

  • Multiple Shifts available
    • 2nd shift: Monday - Friday 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
    • 2nd shift: Saturday - Monay 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. (Fridays are optional)
    • 1st shift: Saturday - Monday 5:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Fridays are optional)

Responsibilities

  • Operates CNC machines to manufacture parts efficiently and accurately.
  • Coordinates with management to prioritize machine scheduling and support production flow.
  • Collaborates with NC programmers to plan and execute set‑ups that minimize manufacturing time.
  • Maintains AS9100 quality procedures and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs routine cleaning and general maintenance of CNC machines and associated fixtures.
  • Ensures tooling, cutters, and fixtures are properly stored, prepared, and ordered as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment that supports safe and efficient operations.
  • Reports quality or time‑management concerns and improvement recommendations to management.
  • Understands how failures impact customer products and incorporates quality and safety considerations into daily work.
  • Performs additional related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Adequate years of CNC machine operation experience as determined by Karman.
  • Detail‑oriented and highly organized, with strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
  • Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i‑B5 controls.
  • Strong blueprint interpretation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of machine set‑ups, tooling, and cutters.
  • Ability to communicate directly with internal customers.
  • Training on applicable changes and customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and instruction‑following requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant standing, walking, and sitting for at least 8 hours.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs, minimum 35 lbs.
  • Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment.
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses may be worn.
  • Prolonged periods of repetitive movement.
  • Constant holding, grasping, turning, or similar hand movements.
  • Occasional reaching overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level.
  • The essential functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
