Summary Generated by Built In

The CNC II Machinist is responsible for the operation, setup, and adjustment of CNC lathes used to manufacture and repair drill string components in accordance with customer and OEM specifications. Working under the direction of a shop foreman or supervisor, this position requires the ability to interpret work orders, engineering drawings, and machining programs to ensure parts are produced accurately and efficiently. The machinist must have sufficient knowledge of CNC controls, including Mazatrol and FANUC systems, to make program edits, adjust offsets, and verify that machining operations meet required tolerances.

Key responsibilities include loading and properly orienting parts using cranes or semi-automated equipment, performing first-article inspections, and monitoring machine operations to identify and correct issues before they result in nonconforming parts. The machinist is expected to use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions, document inspection results, and ensure all finished products meet quality standards. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting machining processes, making necessary adjustments to maintain production efficiency, and proactively identifying potential problems that could impact quality or productivity.

Beyond machining responsibilities, the CNC II Machinist is expected to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while complying with all company, safety, quality, and environmental policies. The position also includes performing and documenting daily preventative maintenance on equipment, maintaining production output targets, and ensuring all work orders, part prints, and CNC programs are verified before beginning a job. Successful candidates should possess strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality, and the physical ability to stand, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout a 8–10 hour shift.
