Position Summary:
The Machinist III is responsible for following instructions given by the Production Manager to execute all component manufacture successfully. The goal is to efficiently design and manufacture components and systems that are safe, innovative, and of high quality. The Machinist III will represent the Company and its values and will ensure that the expectations of the Company’s customers are exceeded by performing the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create CNC programs from engineering data using Mastercam 2025 software.
- Secure raw materials, install cutting tools, and set proper offsets, feeds and speeds.
- Set-up, load and operate HAAS CNC machines such vertical mills and routers
- Set-up, load and operate manual machines such as vertical and horizontal mills, lathes and surface grinder.
- Guarantee part accuracy within 0.0001 to 0.001 inches, accounting for tool deflection material thermal expansion.
- Inspect finished products utilizing precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Can understand and locate revision levels on drawings, specifications, and materials.
- Able to identify different materials and their properties relative to machining and processing.
- Preform routine preventive maintenance and keep the work area safe and clean
- Maintain documentation such as work orders and parts tags.
- Write and optimize machine- readable code (G code, M code) or utilize CAD/CAM programs to define complex geometries.

- Individual contributor that is generally self-sufficient and requires little to no supervisor input to complete tasks assigned.
- Trains other technicians on correct use of tools and processes.
- Possesses a toolbox with basic tools per the list provided by Knight Aerospace.
- Understand and comply with safety policies, ensures self and others in the area are wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED; completion of a trade school, vocational program, or formal apprenticeship preferred.
Minimum ten years of related machining experience, or
Minimum four years of experience in machining aerospace components.
High proficiency in math (Algebra, geometry, trigonometry), blueprint reading and GD&T
Work Environment Requirements:
Full-Time Position.
Warehouse and manufacturing environment.
Skills Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of trade school, vocational program, or formal apprenticeship
- Minimum ten years of related machining experience OR minimum four years machining aerospace components
- High proficiency in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, blueprint reading, and GD&T
- Experience creating CNC programs using Mastercam 2025
- Experience operating HAAS CNC machines (vertical mills, routers)
- Ability to write and optimize machine-readable code (G-code, M-code) or use CAD/CAM
- Experience setting up and operating manual machines (vertical/horizontal mills, lathes, surface grinder)
- Experience inspecting finished products using micrometers and calipers
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings including GD&T symbols
- Preventive maintenance and maintaining a safe, clean work area
- Document control experience (work orders, parts tags)
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, computer, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to train other technicians on tools and processes
