Primary Responsibilities
- Write, revise, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines.
- Translate engineering drawings and 3D models into accurate machining instructions.
- Select appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Set up or assist with the setting up of CNC machines to validate new or revised programs.
- Perform test runs and adjust programs as needed to achieve desired results.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to resolve machining issues and ensure product conformity.
- Maintain a library of programs and ensure proper documentation of setups and tooling instructions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction and scrap minimization.
- All other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in machining or manufacturing technology preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience operating and programming CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in G-code and major CAM software platforms.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and material characteristics.
- Familiar with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMMs.
- Ability to work from complex blueprints and CAD drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.
- Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis machining.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
