Primary Responsibilities
  • Write, revise, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines.
  • Translate engineering drawings and 3D models into accurate machining instructions.
  • Select appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Set up or assist with the setting up of CNC machines to validate new or revised programs.
  • Perform test runs and adjust programs as needed to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to resolve machining issues and ensure product conformity.
  • Maintain a library of programs and ensure proper documentation of setups and tooling instructions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction and scrap minimization.
  • All other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in machining or manufacturing technology preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience operating and programming CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in G-code and major CAM software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and material characteristics.
  • Familiar with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMMs.
  • Ability to work from complex blueprints and CAD drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.
Preferred
  • Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis machining.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.

Skills Required
