About the Role

As a CNC Machine Programmer III, you'll complete the fabrication of requested material to achieve defined specifications and provide responsive fabrication support. You'll apply your knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments and fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain our machines and equipment. You'll write programs for engineering drawings for machined part fabrication.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Advanced knowledge of machining techniques
  • Progressive experience with machining tools and equipment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of 3-D programming and machining techniques
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
  • Advanced blueprint reading including geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Maintain accountability of shop tools and measuring equipment in computerized tracking systems
  • Identify out of tolerance parts
  • Routinely checking parts and recording measurements
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Understanding and following safety rules and regulations
  • Utilizing a traveler and any accompanying documentation
  • Adept at problem solving of machining methods, machining operations order and part set up
  • Ability to research information on cutting tools, machine tooling, machinery & machine accessories
  • Ability to understand and work in an AS9100 shop environment


Additional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
  • Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors
  • Frequently requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes
  • Frequently lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.


Working Conditions:

  • Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials
  • Frequently exposed to loud noises


Safety Sensitive Position:

  • Responsible for the safety or security of people or property
  • Inspects structures, equipment or vehicles
  • Performs aviation related duties
  • Operate or supervise vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
$25.50 - $35.06
