About the role:

As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you’ll produce precision components for our core production lines. You’ll spend your day in a hands-on, low-volume, high-mix environment setting up and operating Okuma CNC lathes, working with OSP controls, proving out jobs, inspecting first pieces, and adjusting tooling and offsets to hold tight tolerances. Because our product mix changes frequently, you’ll gain experience with a wide range of materials, part geometries, tooling, fixtures, and machining challenges rather than running the same job every day. 

This role is designed for a machinist who is still early in their career and wants meaningful ownership, coaching from seasoned teammates, and exposure to the full manufacturing process—from raw material and machining through assembly, testing, and service.

Requirements

What you’ll do

• Set up and operate CNC lathes (Okuma), and other machinery as needed, in a low-volume, high-mix production environment -- five or more changeovers on a typical day.
• Sequence jobs to reduce setup time and maintain production flow.
• Set tooling, fixtures, offsets, and programs; verify setup accuracy.
• Inspect parts to blueprint dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring tools.
• Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot issues and improve setups, programs, and cycle times.
• Monitor cutting conditions and adjust offsets, inserts, and tooling as needed.
• Load and verify the correct CNC program and setup revision.
• Maintain coolant, lubrication, equipment, and a safe, orderly work area.
• Cross-train with machining, saw, assembly, and service teams.

About you

• At least one year of hands-on CNC lathe setup and operating experience; direct experience with Okuma machines and OSP controls is strongly preferred, or willingness to learn Okuma technology will also be considered.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming fundamentals.
• Ability to read blueprints, understand tolerances, and apply shop math.
• Comfort using inspection tools to verify parts meet specifications.
• Experience in CNC turning or related machine-shop experience. This role is ideal for someone who can work with growing independence and is eager to learn from more experienced machinists.
• Ability to stand for an 8- to 10-hour shift and safely lift, push, pull, and position components weighing up to 50 pounds.

Bonus Points

• Experience with additional Okuma equipment, live tooling, multi-axis turning, or conversational programming.
• Exposure to manual machining, saw operations, electro-mechanical assembly, shipping and receiving, or lean manufacturing practices.
