CME Grants Manager

Position Summary

Position CHEST's grant-funded education programs for continued growth by researching and identifying new continuing medical education (CME) and continuing education (CE) grant opportunities, and managing the proposal development process from concept through submission. Develop and maintain relationships with CME and CE supporters in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, and with third-party medical education partners who support proposal development. Set and achieve funding goals for grant contributions to Annual Meeting, Board Review, and other in-person and online education.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

1. Demonstrate a passion for crushing lung disease and embody CHEST values: honor the team, lead with integrity, leverage passion, cultivate innovation, and have serious fun.
2. Develop and maintain understanding of CHEST priorities for education 
3. Identify funding opportunities from commercial supporters (pharmaceutical and medical device industry) and other supporters of CE/CME that align with CHEST education priorities. 
4. Manage and expand opportunities for CME Satellite symposia at CHEST Annual Meeting and other events.
5. With CHEST Education, Digital Learning, and other internal teams, support the development of strategy for CE/CME programs. 
6. Manage all phases of the grant development process and submission of grant proposals to potential funding organizations; including document creation, writing LORs and proposals, creating budgets, and entry of all relevant information into grant portals. 
7. Manage work completed by any third parties used to complete proposals including establishing timelines and fees.
8. Monitor industry developments in CE/CME, including new and emerging educational modalities. Make recommendations for program design
9. Ensure that grant funded programs meet compliance and reporting standards, and that interim reports, final reports, and reconciliations are completed and submitted to funders on time.
10. Identify and maintain relationships with industry supporters, including pharmaceutical and device industry. 
11. Identify and maintain relationships with collaborators including medical education companies and other providers of medical education.
12. Participate in negotiation of grant awards, contracts, and agreements.  
13. Ensure that grant awards and letters of agreement are routed and approved through internal CHEST processes.
14. Proactively monitor and changing grant standards, funder guidelines, compliance requirements and support ongoing grant readiness.

Requirements

Qualifications

1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience securing and managing educational grants for accredited CME/CE programs, preferably within a medical association, medical education company, healthcare organization, or pharmaceutical environment.
2. Strong knowledge of CME/CE, including identification of gaps and needs, Moore’s levels of outcome assessment, and different teaching modalities (live learning, e-Learning, print, enduring products).
3. Demonstrated experience researching and identifying CME/CE grant funding opportunities from pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and understanding how commercial supporters evaluate and award educational grants.
4. Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain contacts. 
5. Understanding of grant submission processes and all aspects of grant proposal including but not limited to, learning objectives, needs assessment, and evaluation plan. 
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to discuss healthcare trends, medical education, and CHEST mission, vision, and educational priorities. 
7. Ability to manage and balance multiple competing priorities/projects
8. Ability to influence and negotiate through written and verbal communication
9. Ability to identify and build collaborative solutions that provide organizational opportunities
10. Ability to identify and cultivate relationships and alliances
11. Experience identifying and engaging third-party medical education companies or grant writers to develop and submit proposals. 
12. Working knowledge of CME outcomes measurement and reporting, and experience ensuring funded programs meet interim/final reporting and compliance requirements
13. Ability to travel up to 20%.
14. Ability to adhere to CHEST's hybrid work schedule, which includes 2 days per week work-from-home, and 3 days per week onsite at CHEST headquarters in Glenview. Tuesday and Wednesday are CHEST's anchor days, and a 3rd onsite day will be decided between employee and supervisor

Additional Information

The annual base salary range for this position is USD $87,000 to USD $93,000. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items. CHEST considers factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
